We Have No Reason To Celebrate
vanity | 7/02/11 | Alan Levy

Posted on 07/02/2011 7:04:32 PM PDT by Absolutely Nobama

I think the United States of America should no longer celebrate the Fourth of July.

Yes, I said it. I'm not taking it back. The United States of America should no longer celebrate the Fourth of July.

The Fourth of July is a celebration of Freedom. The Fourth of July is a celebration of Limited Government. The Fourth of July is a celebration of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It's a time to celebrate Independence from foreign powers. It's the time to reflect on what makes America American.

Well, since none of these values are apparent in today's society, I think we should just turn the Fourth of July into the fourth of July. We should forget about the hamburgers and the fireworks. We should forget about the block parties and taking the day off from work. It might as well be another day since America is becoming just another place, thanks to the Authoritarian Left.

We have the federal "government" making ordinary citizens jump through hoops to buy a gun to defend their families, while allowing gun purchases to be made by Mexican drug lords without hassle. We have a federal "government" that wants to ORDER you to buy health insurance. We have a federal "government" that wants to decide what lightbulbs you should use. We have a federal "government" that wants to decide how much water your toilet uses after you take a Democrat. We have a federal "government" that thinks groping children, nuns, and elderly leukemia patients is vital to national security. We have a federal "government" that allows rogue agencies like the EPA to make rules and regulations that carry the same weight as laws. We have a federal "government" that has frittered away our sovereignty with its incomprehensible debt. We have a federal "government" that allowed itself to be ordered by the UN, EU, and Arab League to go to war to make sure al-Qaeda takes over Libya. We have a federal "government" that thinks it has the right to decide that your neighbor deserves some of your paycheck more than you do. If I go any further, I think I might off myself. (Safety first!)

Call me crazy and off meds, but I don't think any of the above should be celebrated. It would be an exercise in Orwellian parody to do so.

Folks, the only way to reverse this trend is by electing Conservatives. Moderates won't get the job done. Cooperation with the Authoritarian Left won't get it done. The only thing that will save the Republic is a return to its Constitutional, Judeo-Christian, and Rugged Individualist values. We need to elect individuals who will stand up to the bougerois socialists in the media and in Hollywood with an extended middle finger. What we need is individuals who live and breathe the Constitution, not fingersniffers who believe in a "living and breathing" Constitution. In other words, we need the exact opposite of what we have now.

God help us all.

“As long as there is even just one person who believes in the ideals found in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution then freedom still lives!”

I just made that up. Interestingly enough, I was talking about this with a very decorated nam vet(2 silver stars, purple heart at Khe Sanh) yesterday...most kids and young adults can't recite even the first line of the Declaration of Independence much less the whole thing because there is nothing pushing them to learn anything that is not in the current school curriculum or on a video game.

Theres always freedom...

One of the songs we are singing tomorrow at church

The National Anthem, America the Beautiful, This Land is your land, Youre a Grand Old Flag

and then this...we re going to sing the version David Phelps sings

Let FReedom Ring by Bill Gaither

Deep within, the heart has always known that there was freedom
Somehow breathed into the very soul of life
The prisoner, the powerless, the slave have always known it
There’s something that keeps reaching for the sky

Even life begins because a baby fights for freedom
And songs we love to sing have freedom’s theme
Some have walked through fire and flood to find a place of freedom
And some faced Hell itself for freedom’s dream

Let freedom ring wherever minds know what it means to be in chains
Let freedom ring wherever hearts know pain
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
We can be free and we can sing -— let freedom ring

God built freedom into every fiber of creation
And He meant for us to all be free and whole
When my Lord bought freedom with the Blood of His redemption
His Cross stamped pardon on my very soul

I’ll sing it out with every breath, I’ll let the whole world hear it
This hallelujah anthem of the free
That iron bars and heavy chains can never hold us captive
The Son has made us free and free indeed

Let freedom ring down through the ages from a hill called Calvary
Let freedom ring wherever hearts know pain
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
You can be free and you can sing let freedom ring

Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
You can be free and you can sing let freedom ring
You can be free and you can sing -— let freedom ring -— let freedom

what a pile of bovine excrement. I will celebrate because we still have the opportunity to turn this thing around. I refuse to sulk away into the night just because the boy-king, abetted by demonrats and the media, currently have an upper hand. You can take your crappy attitude and go elsewhere with it.

I’ll ask again: What’s more important, plastic patriotism or actual patriotism ? Why celebrate when we’re on the road to fascism ? Why should we celebrate as the “government”’s iron fist that constricts our freedom ? What freedoms still remain ? Why should we celebrate when the “government” has only one solution to any given problem: more “government” ?

This post was not about attacking the Fourth of July, it was about actually defending the values of the Fourth of July.

I will disagree and plan to celebrate the 4th.

Because there is no freer nation that I know of. Nowhere else I’d prefer to live.

Are my freedoms ideal? No. There is a long way to go.

But I think this is as good as it gets, for now. So I will celebrate that.

“I will celebrate because we still have the opportunity to turn this thing around.”

That was the whole point of what I wrote.

It goes well beyond Obama. We have been sliding down the Progressive slope for 70+ years now. It only picked up speed during Obozo's term.

I refuse to accept that. I want and demand that the federal “government” abides by the Constitution. Nothing more and nothing less.

My state is celebrating the Fourth by conducting roadblock searches without probable cause - supposedly for drunk drivers but in reality they are looking for anything to raise some revenue.

“Happy 4th of July everyone, especially our Military, this guy is an anomaly.”

My Dad served and was wounded on Okinawa. One of a generation whereby 16 million out of a nation of 133 million served in uniform, during four years of war.

And I know for certain my Dad would say bullsh!t to a writer such as this. The writer is a whiner and a quitter.

Temporary problems, sure.

Give up on America? Not even close. We are not quitters.

Happy July 4th, Americans.

It’s pretty much no longer celebrated anyway. Most Americans have no idea what the observance embodies. They lack historical depth.

It’s not that he’s a quitter: he is overwhelmed by the tragedy of what the American people have become.

The crappy attitude may be more realistic than we would like. The American people are like a stonewall standing for all this liberalism for so long.

No. I celebrate Independence Day for the same reason I go to church: to be reminded of what I am supposed to be.

“Temporary problems, sure.”

They are anything but temporary. Is the EPA temperary ? Is the Department of Education temporary ? Is the BATFE temporary ? Is the Federal Reserve temporary ? Is the FDA temporary ? Is the federal bureaucracy temporary ?
