Van Jones building left-wing Tea Party, says the country ‘isn’t broke’
Daily Caller ^ | 6/24/11 | Matthew Boyle

Former Obama administration green jobs czar Van Jones is trying to build a liberal “Tea Party” movement by denying the federal budget crisis.

The left-wing champion launched his liberal Tea Party movement, which he’s dubbed the “Rebuild the Dream” movement, at a Thursday night event in New York City.

“We are being lied to,” Jones said. “We are not broke. We’re the richest country in the history of the world.”

The “Rebuild the Dream” website once echoed the same meme. “MoveOn Civic Action & The Other 98% teamed up to keep the message going: We Are Being Lied To,” read the movement’s mission statement on rebuildthedream.com. “The country isn’t broke and the last thing we should be doing is gutting workers’ rights and cutting vital services American families depend on.”

The website took that paragraph down sometime between June 13 and now. On June 13, The Daily Caller asked Jones to provide examples and statistics to prove the country “isn’t broke.” Jones never responded.

Jones told the Washington Post he thinks liberals can “do what the tea party did.”

“They stepped forward under a common banner, and everybody took them seriously,” he said. “Polls suggest there are more people out there who have a different view of the economy, but who have not stepped forward yet under a common banner.”

“Left wing TEA party”...wouldn’t that be about as ridiculous as a “white NAACP”?

Rebuild what Dream?

Obama and his wife were pretty clear that they do not believe in the “American Dream”

The difference: the "tea party" just happened. There are no leaders per se. Nobody (to wit no one person or small group) said "hey, let's create a Tea Party" and organized it. It came about by millions of people deciding "enough" and self-organizing an idea whose time had come.

The Coffee Party has been attempted. Didn't work.

Left wing TEA party - Their “tea party” in the revolutionary days would have been sitting around drinking tea with the redcoats and asking if good King George would like them to spy on the rebels, being the loyal subject of his majesty that they were.

Jones told the Washington Post he thinks liberals can “do what the tea party did.”

Not likely.

Liberals are mind-numbed drones

This is exactly like the left attempting a “liberal Rush Limbaugh”.

To wit: Air America.

Any attempt at a “liberal tea party” will collapse immediately, because it will be unionized and taxed.

Rebuild what Dream?

The one that ended with the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. Chantal Delsol, in her landmark Unlearned Lessons of the Twentieth Century described that refusal by so many on the Left to acknowledge the failure of communism:

Vital resistance and resentment are the two main responses to the events of 1989. Vital resistance: the mind realizes its mistake - it admits, for example, that nationalization of the means of production does not produce a happy society, but rather laziness and constant shortages; it refuses, however, to let go of the idea because of its passionate attachment to it. Existence - adventures, friendships, successes - is nourished and permeated by this belief to such an extent that the belief becomes an identity; the individual cannot renounce it without committing a kind of symbolic suicide. No one can admit... that his existence reflects the echo of a failure.
In other words, no one wants to admit that the premise upon which one has constructed their entire raison d’etre is an empty, shrieking fraud. This goes a long way towards explaining the tortured mental gymnastics and pretzel logic employed by liberals and the Left today.

But make no mistake: guys like Van Jones are are monsters - killers without conscience.

There is only one way to deal with them.

I’ve heard this from a sheeperal as well -

I asked how we were going to pay for nationalized healthcare, and she replied “the money’s out there!”.

No thought that it actually BELONGS to someone else who EARNED it and has the right to determine what is done with it.

No, it all belongs to the collective, to the elite, to the ruling class. You’re just storing it for them.

Next time a liberal says something like that, just ask them to give you $5.

That’s been their standard line for quite a few months now. It’s not that the country is broke, it’s just that the “wrong people” have all the money.

This group will no doubt be based on that UK bunch who stage wild screaming protests over relatively minor budget cuts.
