Jon Stewart, Bully
Pajamas Media ^ | June 20, 2011 | Andrew Klavan

Over at Breitbart’s Big Hollywood, 23-year-old comedian Steven Crowder has been outlining an appalling show business story.

According to Crowder—my sometime colleague at PJTV—his manager submitted his work to some producers at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. One senior producer wrote to the manager to say, “Steven is definitely a talented guy,” but “we never book conservative pundits.” Crowder then made one of his weekly YouTube videos in which he displayed the letter and discussed the incident. Mostly, he did this by way of promoting his friend Benjamin Shapiro’s new book Primetime Propaganda which, aptly enough, exposes TV’s tacit blacklist of conservatives.

At this point, according to the next Crowder video, the Daily Show producer who wrote the letter went ballistic at being publicly exposed as a political blacklister. She furiously phoned Crowder’s manager and upbraided him for showing Crowder her letter. The reaming was so bad, Crowder’s manager, feeling he had to protect his business and his other clients, dumped Crowder. (I emailed the manager requesting an interview and received an away message. Crowder asked me not to contact The Daily Show, but if they want to tell their side of the story, they can reach me here.)

Now of course there’s nothing surprising about any of this. We know that leftists mistake their politics for virtue. They think that voting for Democrats somehow makes them good people, and that they are therefore justified in treating anyone who disagrees with them like trash. We know that, whereas conservatives love nothing better than to argue things out with their opponents, leftists want only to shut them up—and they do this by blacklisting them, slandering them as bigots and, wherever the First Amendment isn’t around to stop them, legislating them into silence through “hate speech” laws and “Fairness Acts” and the like.

But while The Daily Show’s behavior may not be surprising, it is kind of disgusting, isn’t it? Stewart is at the height of his career and in a position of power. For him to have his minions take action that costs a 23-year-old up-and-comer his representation is bullying, plain and simple.

This is not Crowder’s opinion, by the way. Crowder has adopted a philosophical and forgiving attitude in both his videos and our private conversations. He points out Stewart has the right to have anyone on his show he wants. I agree. It’s not the ban on conservative pundits I object to. As I say: that’s par for the course. But Crowder has as much right to publicize that ban as Stewart has to put it in place. After all, if Stewart is ashamed of the policy, he should stop it. If he’s not ashamed, he shouldn’t mind when it becomes public. The Daily Show’s response to Crowder’s video was simply despicable.

Crowder calls Stewart “hilarious,” and “brilliant.” I would have said “amusing” and “clever,” but that’s beside the point. A talented bully is still a bully. I don’t know Stewart. He may be a nice guy. But being a nice guy and being a good man are two different things. Blacklisting a 23-year-old and intimidating his rep is not the act of a good man. And it really isn’t funny in the least.

[I’m not sure I need to say this, but just by way of full disclosure: my agent sends my material around too. I know he’s sent it to Comedy Central, and he may well have sent it to The Daily Show. If he hasn’t yet, I guess I just saved him the postage!]

CNN tv personality Spitzer was a leftist political bully and then got caught up sexual problems.

Anthony Weiner was a leftist political bully and then got caught up in sexual problems.

Then there's the bully Jon Steward . . .

Ann Coulter’s book “Demonic” has an interesting section on Jon Stewart and how very powerful he is. Everyone — everyone — rolls over like a submissive dog when Stewart looks at them the wrong way. And the bias is unmistakable, but everyone has to say “No, no bias here. Uh uh.”

I observed that entire interview...

This scum describes himself as "a comedian" when he wants to hide his extreme liberal bias....and a "social commentator" when showing his liberal bias is both safe and helps his self-image.

He had the gaul to describe himself as another "Will Rogers"....

First....he's not a comedian. He is not funny. It is impossible to watch this scum or listen to him without being "turned off".

Second...he is most assuredly liberal - one could also describe "it" as being communist or socialist - take your pick.

What I fail to understand is why he is even mentioned on this site.

Pure Alinsky tactics.

They must be exposed for what they are and Alinsky Disciples must be called on the carpet for supporting the tactics of a disciple of satan.

Any time you can educate the public in what Alinsky promotes is a good day.

Have a good day today.

The Left demands that we be tolerant and listen to them ...

yet, for some reason; they can be the most intolerant group of hypocrites on the planet.

Always, always, always refer to Jon Stewart as "the former Jon Leibowitz, now known as 'Failed Actor Jon Stewart'....

Real tough-guy when talking to a reporter. My 110 lb. daughter could kick his a$$..

On Fox News Sunday yesterday, Jon-jon affirmed his belief that Fox News is a propaganda machine, but ABC/NBC/SeeBS/PBS/NYT/WaPo/NPR/State-controlled-media are totally objective and never spew propaganda.

This makes him either the complete useful idiot, or a pathological liar.

When Stewart's writers went out on strike, his show shut down. Guess he couldn't come up with anything to say on his own.

There is a reason his primary show is on the Comedy Network, it’s all he’s good for.

Excellent article. The attributes the author assigns to libs/dems are so true, whether on TV or not. Even leftists in everyday life act like bullies.

He is not the least bit funny. As I understand it, before he agreed to be on FOX NEWS SUNDAY, he asked for and received all the questions he was going to be asked.

In this way, his writers could tell him what to say.... kinda like a much bigger and far more dangerous stain, true??

Jon Stewart lived with Anthony Weiner during Weiner’s cross dressing days.

Stewart si the only comedian that couldnt find humor in a Congressman named Weiner caught sending pics of his weiner to girls.

Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz is an intellectual fraud.

I have no idea why Jon Stewart holds any power over anyone. He is just a comedian. Who cares what he thinks?

Having said that, it doesn’t surprise me that he is a bully. His ego is known to be absolutely huge, even for Hollywood.

There is a reason his primary show is on the Comedy Network, it’s all he’s good for.

It is said that a true comedian is able to appeal to all sorts of folks...when they are truly skilled and actually funny. Heaven knows, people can use a laugh!

True comedians like Richard Prior, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Will Rogers...all very funny and all appealed to a huge cross section of folks.

Now...in this little, insignificant scum's world, the folks who think him funny are the likes of Babs Streisand, Whooooopee Goldberg, Babs WaaWaa, Van Jones, the "rev." jeremiah wright, opra win-free, little chrissy mathews, keith olberman, and wolf blitzer.

I suppose it's a case of "by their audience shall you know them!"

“Steward sure acted like a bully yesterday on FOX News Sunday”

It was a disgusting interview. And of all those on FNC to query him, did it HAVE to be Chris Wallace??? The only one worse I can think of would be Shep Smith. My gosh - CW playing the role (badly) of conservative and JS praising his intelligence and legitimacy as Ailes’ token voice of professionalism and reason to give FNC “credibility”.

BARF.
