A great day to sleep late in Jersey, as long as youre not within earshot of St Johns in Montclair. via Interfaith Service at St. Johns Parish in Montclair | Baristanet.
This Sunday morning, May 22, at 10 a.m., the sounds of the adhan the Muslim call to prayer will ring out in St. Johns Episcopal Church Montclair.
While theres no minaret at the church, the words of Allahu akbar, (God is greater) will none-the-less invite both Christians and Muslims to worship side by side. During the interfaith service, verses from the Holy Quran will complement readings from the Holy Bible, including during Communion, embracing the traditions of both religions.
Reverend Andrew Butler, Rector of St. Johns parish since September 1, 2010, decided to have this service in order to demonstrate that both Islam and Christianity stem from Abrahamic roots, as well as to dispell negative stereotypes about the Muslim faith.

Once Islamic services are done in their building, Muslims consider the land to belong to them forever to the point of violence if necessary to remove the land from infidel hands.
But, it is fitting for a church that prays to strange gods to be in the hands of true infidels.
Uh huh. What's next week? Calming the spin about how the Aztec's 'helping' enemies and worshipers alike to 'give their hearts to god' might have been a trifle misguided?
What silly twits !shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiachJust wait until they have to explain their actions
to the creator of the universe.
Is the expression “bull dyke” conjoined or hyphenated?
2 Corinthians 6:14 (New International Version)
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
How did I know it was an Episcopal church before I clicked on the thread?
Toby Keith has a great song out with the title "If you don't know where you're going(You might end up somewhere else)" Seems like it fits and that "somewhere else" may not be to your liking. If you get my drift...
Invite them to church. Then tell them the truth. Ignore their lies.
the rev Butler needs to get back to the seminary and also learn about islam and islam’s chronological order and geneology.
where is the intersection of isalm and Christianity ?
same for this allah.
The Names of God Almighty were revealed to the prophets and allah never was 1 of Them.
“as well as to dispell negative stereotypes about the Muslim faith.”
and which stereotypes are those? The cutting off of heads if you don’t agree that alah is great or the raping of young (often pre-teen) girls? Oh wait my mistake, I meant MARRYING of young (often pre-teen) girls.
Silly me. Slip of the keyboard, have to get that fixed I guess.
Martin Luther opened up quite the can of worms.
Yes.
Yes, I lived with it for two years in Erdogan’s Turkey. Ankara has a lot of ‘wild dog packs’, and they all chimed in at the first notes. Even better (and not well known) is what occurs during Ramadan. Two goobers walk down every street between 2 and 4 am with drums banging away to wake the people up for breakfast before sunrise. It’s based on tradition before people actually had alarm clocks, but there’s nothing quite like going back to the 9th century.
Certainly. From three mosques at the same time.
Several times a day.
Anybody with a modicum of knowledge about Islam knows that this has zero chance of success.
