...Perennial presidential candidate, Ron Paul is the standard bearer of the Libertarian movement in this country and a Conservative Republican Congressman from Texas. His first official run for President occurred in 1988 on the Libertarian ticket. Since then, he ran again in 2008 as a Republican and is now officially seeking the Republican nomination in 2012. Even with this assumed notoriety, at this point, Paul is still not that well known (although that may be changing) and as such, is considered a dark horse candidate. And, this is why I ask: Who is Ron Paul and really, what does he stand for?
Paul is a passionate Conservative in the truest sense of the word. He believes in smaller government, balanced budgets, free trade, and most importantly, the eventual abolishment of the Federal Reserve System. He is also a Constitutionalist. As, you know, this column believes and has continually written that the Fed is the biggest danger to the future of the country. See e.g. The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffen which is a book about the dangers of the Fed and is recommended by Paul. Here is Ron Paul speaking about the Fed:

He is the one who would actually eliminate some of our insane Federal Agencies.
Ron Paul would be good as Treasury Secretary. He would be a disaster as President, because he has no understanding of the national security threats we face. In fact, he blames most of them on us. Thomas Sowell described in a recent interview with Peter Robinson (Hoover Institute, I think) the greatest danger the US faces is the escalating nuclear threat from middle Eastern countries who view the US as their main enemy. Ron Paul tends to side with the Middle Eastern tyrants in their enmity toward us, which he attributes to our actions. Ron Paul does not see the nuclear threat from Iran, Pakistan, and others as a major concern. Given that national security is one of the key Constitutional obligations of the government, Ron Paul is not suited to be Commander In Chief because of his blind spot in this area which affects our very existence.
Horsehockey, that’s what Paul and his cult like to say he is but scratching the surface, he is a moderate libertarian who sides with liberals as often if not more than he sides with Conservatives. He is about as much of a Constitutional purist as Fred Phelps is a Biblical purist.
In the past six months alone from Paul we’ve seen him:
Co-Sponsor T-Boone Pickens taxpayer scamming LNG boondogle
Refuse to condemn N. Korea’s attacks on SK.
Vote for Nancy Pelosi’s tax hike bill
Praise criminal hacker Julian Assange and actually call for him to criminally hack entities in the US.
Support the DADT repeal...
...and so much more
Really, what has he done since he was made chair of the finance committee? Nothing. And that supposedly is his strong point. He has shown he is unable to actually accomplish anything, heck, when it gets down to it, he only talks. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t want to do half the things he talks about just so he can still have the issues to talk about.
You are right about that. I expected more. We will see.
Not John Galt.

So, you pimp on FR, get zotted, whine about it, and come back for more?
You don’t seem to want to respond to articles you post, why not? Are you here just for the free cookies but won’t put any money in the tip jar?
Man, I just love those tear & angst filled sob-a-thons penned
by disgruntled bloggers, Paultards and other riff raff.
It’s things like that which make it all worthwhile.
What is dark matter? Ask Chris Matthews...he knows everything.
