Sometimes we all get stuck in a rut. Events around us seem to be ever-changing but we just can’t seem to motivate ourselves to change with them. We do the same things we have always done and we end up with the same results we always get and there just doesn’t seem to be a way break the routines with which we have saddled ourselves.

If this is you, let us provide you with some ideas – gleaned from literally a fraction of an hour of research on the internet – tailored to your specific situation. Let us help you get out of that rut now and back on track to being the rising star you were meant to be.

Pick a Hero –

From Dr. Linda Sapandin comes our first suggestion for turning the drab everyday into a moment where even the earth seems to begin to heal by using a little creative visualization. Choose someone who you see as an archetype of the person you really want to be. Don’t be shy about this, shoot for the moon and choose the person who embodies the characteristics you want to see in yourself. Then, take the time to introduce yourself to that person, observe how they have handled the types of situations you want to conquer. See how others react to them and how they inspire inspiration in those around them. You may even want to get some copies of their most famous quotes or speeches to read or listen to over and over again. The use of an MP3 player is highly recommended.

Take a Break –

Susan Ward, writing for about.com, gives us this widely known and frequently used suggestion. You have worked hard, put in your time at the office, and probably have done more than anyone should expect of you, so there is no harm in putting up the teleprompter and taking time for yourself. The same issues that faced you yesterday will be there tomorrow but if you allow yourself a chance to get away from it all, it is just possible you might see those things in a different light next week. If you allow yourself some time with your own inner child, you may even discover that during your break, some of those problems have taken care of themselves.

Get Some Support –

Kristen Fischer, an ehow.com contributor, offers this sage advice. Find yourself someone to bounce ideas off of and who is willing to support you in your efforts to make the important changes that will get you out of your rut. It doesn’t hurt to find someone who will do the heavy lifting for you either. Be sure to pick confidants that you are confident are on your side.

Do Something – Anything – to Give Yourself a Boost -

At earlytorise.com, Michael Masterson drops this pearl of wisdom where just about anybody can pick it up. It’s time to act. Even if you don’t feel like it or don’t think you’re up to it. Sometimes you just have to slam your fist on the table and say, “Let’s do it.” It’s possible that at first you’ll doubt whether it was the right thing to do but, believe us, when you’ve moved beyond thinking about making decisions to actually doing something, you’ll be glad you did. As a side benefit, those around you who see that you are a man of action, regardless of what that action it is, will be sure to say it was a “gutsy call.”

Press Reset –

Finally, at the thebridgemaker.com, Ralph Jean-Paul provides us with this gem which is sure to bring the sparkle back to your eyes and put you back on the road to being the change-maker you were meant to be. Instead of trying to slog your way through the day-to-day grind, working through the same problems that just can’t seem to get fixed, start over. You heard that right! Start the trek from the beginning and you may just find the road leads you somewhere new. We would all be happy for you to take that step into the unknown, even if your choice to start afresh opened up different and exciting career opportunities for you.

These few brief suggestions may be guaranteed to pull you out of the rut that you’ve been in for far too long. But here’s one last piece of advice to keep in mind. Be sure to monitor your success and adjust accordingly. If none of the above seem to work for you, surely there is something that will. Or, we may be entirely wrong and it’s possible you may never get out of this rut. Sorry.
