In a modern-day version of "Let them eat cake.", President Obama's answer to rising gas prices is that you should just trade in your vehicle.
If you're complaining about the price of gas and you're only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know," Obama said laughingly. "You might want to think about a trade-in."
Perhaps all of the men and women driving trucks to move equipment and supplies should just transition to hauling what they can in the back of a Prius. As food prices continue to rise because of transportation costs, you just better suck it up.
This is not a solution. This is not leadership. That he could deliver that line with smirk and a chuckle speaks volumes. Imagine if Bush had said that when gas prices were around $4/gallon. It would have been the lead story on every newscast. Once again, Mr. Obama gets a pass except for in the conservative press.
I heard this on the radio and that laugh of his just made me crazy. If it was a Republican president...’Gas Prices Soar, President Laughs’.
Based on new Rasmussen polls, I think Dem voters are thinking about a trade-in on their very own marxist (un-documented) prez...
After going to the supermarket this weekend (we only go once a week to save gas now), we’ve decided we may have to give up beef, except on special occasions. The price of every item we bought has gone up, but meat showed the most dramatic increase.
Guess we’ll all be vegans driving electric cars after BO and his Mizzus finish “reforming” our economy.
Noticed that too. Also noticed a lot of the usual “buy one / get one” specials are disappearing quickly on the supermarket shelves.
Well, Zee-rho, I get 22 mph and I AIN’T laughin...
Jerkwad
So what is his solution if you’re getting 30 MPG and complaining about gas prices?
Odummy also said to get a tune-up. Hopefully we will trade-up in 2012! If I hear him laugh one more time I’ll collapse a lung screaming at my tv. I can’t stand this jerk any longer.
"Buy electric car's from my union buddies!"
Obama is an idiot.
These fuel prices are a huge drag on the economy. And thus they have a direct effect of lowering government tax revenues and increasing government safety net payments.
How many people can afford car payments on a $ 40,000 new car?
Are there any alternatives after the 2009 “Cash for Clunkers” program?
Proof positive that the Congress Critters living their entire lives inside the beltway must be FORCED to return to their districts for the majority of every year. Plus, they need to bring along their staffs too.
Soylent Green.
Also, where the heck is he getting the "8 miles to the gallon" figure? How many people still own a vehilce that gets EIGHT miles to a gallon?
My husband stopped driving his truck 3 years ago & went to a small, economy car & he's complaining about the gas prices!
El Rushbo had a better idea. How’s about we”Trade-In”Obama???
If he had a brain, he would release from the petroleum reserves to drive the prices down. It worked whe President Bush did it.
What's Bozo's answer to that? Haul the goods in a small electric car????
What about a family of 6 that will not fit into a small SUV that gets better gas mileage & that family needs to drive a van, just to fit their immediate family in?
Ladies & Gentelemen, we have for you today: THE IDIOT IN CHARGE!
Please, please do not throw in with Obama here. Not everybody is an urbanite whose only errands are to Whole Foods for more arugula. Many of use use big trucks for business or for farm use that get below 10 MPG when used for those purposes. (My big F-250 does).
It is not the place of the President to tell Americans what they need. He is to execute the duties of his office: protect and defend the Constitution, and secure the blessings of LIBERTY for ourselves and our posterity. LIBERTY includes owning any damned truck I want, and it includes the oil companies drilling wherever they can negotiate with the STATES to do so.
