Cockroaches, bugs, mold, and flies. These are just some of the props and rumors allegedly employed by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) against the American unit of French catering company Sodexo. And the companys had enough.
Fed up with tactics that include intimidation, extortion, and yes, sabotage that apparently includes plastic cockroaches, Sodexo filed a lawsuit against the SEIU last week under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt

Sodexho is no bastion of “fairness” either. To me, they deserve the SEIU. Birds of a feather and all that.

What makes the shows great is that while you think they are about food, they are just as much about people of the world. The real ones with no agenda but being a good host to a guest.
The world needs to be reminded that those are the real people we don't get to see in front of CNN and Fox.

Did they have the Union Rat in the ‘80s?
My husband has to work with this union every day of his life. Sadly, some of his employees are truly decent people who absolutely HATE the current shop steward - an up and coming goon.

If you can get past what a pompous, yet clueless, jerk the host is.

You must mean Bourdain? Zimmer is just a goof. Bourdaine(sp?) is a lefty man of the light in the loafers crowd.
Still good shows when given the alternative viewing options.

You must mean Bourdain? Yep, I mist have had an html error whil italicizing what I was responding to. Check out his Palin comments.
Zimmern is a lefty too, but a nice guy. My tax man has known him since before he was a local tv chef and vouches for his nice guy credentials.

I've seen an episode where Bourdain was a bit drunk. He became an arrogant opinionated flaming queen that would get in your face because he knows better than you. Summing it up you can tell he's a mean gay drunk (when drunk).
But hey, I'm not perfect. I like his show.

This reminds me of a story an old timer told me a few years back. In the 1950s (in North Jersey) he was digging a trench and laying some metal pipe on his own property. A few union iron workers driving by saw him working and approached and threatened him telling him he was doing “Union work.” He told them to get off his property, They left and said they would be back.He told me he sat up all night in a chair under a tree in his yard with a loaded 12 gage across his lap. No union folk ever returned. So...there were Union scum even in those days.

I can’t even remember which unions—”Retail Employees something or other” and “Meat Handler’s Union”, I suppose. I was just out of high school into my first years in college, and I knew nothing about unions. What I heard and witnessed myself soured me on them—even though I have been sometimes required to join them by different employers I have had.
Coincidentally, I just received a mailer from one about which local “union” grocery stores our family should patronize.
It went into the shredder.

This is why no employer wants union scum around. Just knowing that a member of your workforce would do this kind of thing at another employers place of buisness is reason for dismissal. Even if it was on thier own time.

I read Bordaine’s book . He does admit to past drug addiction , being a drunk and a thief , but no mention of him being gay . Brags about female conqests and his wife .
To: katykelly
What was his book like? I can’t imagine him writing a book. Helluva narrator’s voice for doing voiceovers though.

Family owned a restaraunt and I waited tables, tended bar, cooked, washed dishes, and plowed the parking lot.
And yes, the stories you acquire when working around the customers and workers in that business sure does make for a rich book.
I'll check it out.
