For those of you who still think ObamaCare is a good idea, here’s how it’s affecting my family at the very moment I’m writing this…
My 90 year-old mother has taken ill. High fever (103), throwing up, weakness, spasmodic cough and significant respiratory issues. Her neighbor took her to the ER. The doctor says that "due to the changes in Medicare under ObamaCare" (the doctor's own words) he could not admit her into the hospital, even though he thought she should be admitted.
Kicked out of the hospital, even though she’s also a heart patient. Kicked out of the hospital, even though she runs a risk of developing pneumonia.
Would anyone like to try convincing me at this point that the rumors of death panels within ObamaCare are false? Before the new rules took effect, she'd have been admitted without question. We're getting a nurse to stay with her so that (hopefully) she gets proper care.
Those of you who pray, please pray for my mom.
Obamacare is death.
Its intent and its outcome.
Mass murder.

I would demand to speak with a hospital attorney, and I would ask them to delineate exactly what law and what specific statements within that law are being used to deny admission. I would ask the attorney if he/she is willing to categorically state, in writing, that either 1) admission is not required on the basis of expert medical opinion (must state the doctors name, exact diagnosis, reasoning admission is not required, and treatment plan), or 2) admission is warranted but is being denied under the law.
Tell them that if they refuse to work with you directly on this you will go to media outlets and your own personal attorney. I would be shocked if you didn’t get results.
She has PRIVATE insurance and is being refused care?? How can that be possible? Where in the private insurance contract does it state that there are age limits to care???
What if you took her to another hospital, gave her a phony name, and say that she is from Mexico? They’d have to take her. This makes me so mad. Prayers for your poor mom.

Gee, we can afford to build tunnels for turtles, let illegals into the hospital for free, let illegals send their ninos to public school where they get free breakfast and lunch, pay hundreds of thousands of people "crazy checks", when they're crazy like foxes, study cow flatulence, try to counsel Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly, see how rats respond to cocaine, ad nauseum, all on the public nickel.
Yet the old folks "need to start making other arrangements".
Think again. All the BS needs to be cut FIRST, particularly ANY program that benefits or supports ILLEGALS !

Will pray for your mom. She must not be an illegal immigrant? I suspect they would have admitted her, if she was illegal. ?

He’s absolutely correct.
There are new Medicare rules which
have newer, more restrictive thresholds for
administering medications and admitting patients .
If a doctor violates Medicare’s rules ( this has been law for years ),
the physician can be fined
with very steep penalties ,
even for a simple and accidental billing mistake.
And that’s just the beginning of the cascade of legal jeopardy .
No physician ever wants to run afoul of Medicare, it’s like the IRS on steroids .
Trying home care is the first hoop both your mother and her doctor must jump through .
I hope she responds quickly.
I do not believe that your mother was denied in-patient care exclusively because of ‘Obamacare.’
What is the change in Medicare that is causing people to be turned away with serious issues?
Yes, but all the BS doesn't add up to squat. These "entitlement" welfare programs (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security) are the 300 pound gorilla.
Seniors should make alternative plans. Maybe AMAC ("The Conservative Alternative to AARP") will come up with an alternative, private health plan for seniors, something with high deductibles and copays. IOW, something that is more market oriented.
Some seniors are already opting out of Social Security and Medicare. Relying on welfare is not a safe way to go.
When I read the title I thought you were going to say she was caught partying with old grand-dad........(I'm sorry, I couldn't resist)
All we were told was that under the new “rules”, she could not be admitted. My wife is checking with her doctor tomorrow to see what is going on.....
If you can find out what specific rule is cited for this, would you please ping me or use private mail? As a senior I need to know what they are trying to pull so I can fight it.
