From the Portland Tribune:
Parents ask McDonalds to ban Ronald
Local parents and doctors took concerns about the health of their children to the source this week: McDonalds. The fast-food giants unhealthy food and marketing targeted at children caused the group to gather 500 petition signatures from local parents. That petition was presented Wednesday morning to the Cedar Mill McDonalds and representatives of Don Armstrong, who owns 14 McDonalds restaurants in the Portland area.
The group said they hope their message will make its way to the corporation.
There is no debate about whether the aggressive marketing of McDonalds-style junk food to children should be stopped, said Dr. Martin Donohoe, senior physician at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas. The industry knows its unethical.

First they come for Happy Meals. Then they believe Ronald's a bad influence on the health of kids. What's next?

Buy as many McDonald's franchises as you please and do whatever you please with them.

"There is no debate about whether the aggressive marketing of McDonalds-style junk food to children should be stopped,"Yes there is. End of interest on my part.
Gotta love these leftists: BEGIN with the false notion that no one disagrees with you, and golly, it sure makes (not) thinking easier!

Portland. It figures. Just like the idiots in San Francisco went and banned Happy Meals.
McDonalds would be well advised to stop doing business in these idiot leftist locations. No restaurants, no Ronald McDonald houses, no nothing.

Up next: ban taste from hamburgers and fries, or better yet force them to make it taste like sh*t.
These types are the most dangerous of fascists - they cloak their despicable self-righteousness with a moral veneer.

Why don't these people just take their kids to Hooters and leave McDonalds for those who don't care about (or don't believe in) catastrophe "what you're eating will kill you!" messages?
You don't like it, don't go there!

Tolerance got to love those Portland loons. They are okay with teen gay sex but not Ronald McDonald. How about teaching their kids to think on their own and learn how to make good choices in life without running other peoples lives. If you don’t like Ronald don’t buy the product but don’t prohibit others enjoyment.

If you are a parent and don't like what is being sold at McD’ then don't go. I take my grand-kids all the time. They get Happy Meals. They have a blast on the place sets for an hour or so, then eat a small hamburger, apple slices and one drinks milk the others juice. Sorry, you busybodies, leave my family the hell alone.

You know, until this gets more traction, McD’s must be lovin’ it.
I would wager I’m not the only one indulging in eats like this more than I did a couple of years ago, partly as a reaction against rampant Nannyism.

Wow! 500 people out of a population of 530,000. That is a tidal wave of support. If I was this guy I would tell them to go to hell. How many of these Pinkos actually are patrons of his stores?

I wonder if the parents who signed this petition really understood what it was they were signing? I always think about those “a notch above stupidity” people signed a petition to ban water.
