I found this shocking video on Youtube, censored out the cursing, and reposted it. She did this awful task to get two boys to come to church for four Sundays. It makes me ask myself, "How far am I willing to go to get my friends to come to church?"
Note: There are a lot of copies of this video floating around. I censored mine, but if you watch it from other sources, be forewarned: There is a lot of cursing. - Jim Bennett

He, convinced against his will, is unconvinced still.
If you have to result to that kind of garbage to get people to come to your church, then it might not be a church worth going to.
I drove a bus for my church for over 10 years. I used to be big on trying to get people to come to my church. Now I am just more about telling people the Good News. It’s especially easy since I don’t “go to church” any more. I put it in quotes becasue I don’t actually have a “home” church any more.
Our nomadic lifestyle has left us in a situation where a “home” church doesn’t really offer anything to us and there is not much we can offer in that environment that doesn’t eventually get the negative attention of church leadership. And it’s always “non-bullet-doctrine” stuff.
“Church” has become a spectator sport for me, for the most part.
I would never tell my friends to go to church. It should be their choice.
>>He, convinced against his will, is unconvinced still.<<
I don’t try to “logically convince” people. I tend to see the intellect (natural man) as something that needs to be bypassed to allow the spirit to do it’s work.
That is, people are “intellectually convinced” that Christianity is baloney, but I dont’ think anybody is intellectually convinced to be a Christian. I think that enough evidence is offered in scripture to be able to cut through the intellect, if the spirit is willing, and communicate spiritually. If someone is hardened, the intellect will never be satisfied with enough evidence.
I’m not saying it very well. In a sentence, what I mean is this: The good news must cut through the intellect to reach the spirit. And if your intellect is your god, then it will not happen.
OTOH, it is easy to intellectually convince people that Christianity is bogus. It makes no sense. I mean, come on, WOMEN witnessing the empty tomb? Their testimony held no weight in the world of Jesus time. ;)
Hi, Wanna' go? .. No? .. OK.
We're the priesthood God relies on to preach in and out of season.
Hey John, can I talk to you about somethin' ?
Thanks! I wish someone would teach me how to do that.
I had folks doing everything possible to get me to attend their church.
I said leave me the hell alone to each of them.
I was at the gym working out on a Sunday Morning -—Nov 1st, 2009—All Saints Day-—and I had the sudden urge to attend mass. I went and I haven’t missed a Mass yet.
Everyone has to have their own calling, you cannot force, urge, threaten one to attend Church.
Someone asked me to go to Mass and I became a Catholic a little over a year later. It’s been nearly thirteen years now.
Yup. The way it is supposed to go is that you give them the good news and part of this is that your life is a testimony. Then they say they want to know more. Then you offer your church as one choice to fellowship with other Christians..
I over-simplify, but you get the drift.
Run TV and radio ads promising a "free King James Bible", then when folks respond to the ad tell them you'll send the missionaries out to their house to deliver the Bible....note: That method may NOT work.
I’d rather have the church come to them.
Which, if the evil zero continues to pave the way .. just may be sooner than later.

Forcing and threatening are definitely out. Urging, however, is a viable thing to do.
Thanks for your post.
God isn’t like an ugly girl looking for a date for the prom. We don’t have to resort to tricks or gimmicks to induce people to have a relationship with Him.
