Palin Told Not To Run

Posted on 01/19/2011 9:24:40 AM PST by factmart

Have any potential Presidential candidates in history been told not to run or could not win the general election, before they have announced they were running, then Sarah Palin?

Even Ronald Reagan wasn't told not to run this many times!

Could you name one?

FReeper Brices Crossroads posted these numbers recently and I really sat up and took notice:

“If she [Palin] holds the McCain states (which is a given) and adds just six more (Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Nevada, Indiana, and Virginia)-—traditional red states, in each of which Obama’s poll numbers are in the tank— she wins the Presidency with 271 electoral votes.”

Unless someone can show me where these numbers are wrong/misleading, she is our best candidate.

Can ANYONE debunk these numbers using solid sources other than the fears/opinions of bloviating lib columnists and poll cookers?

If they are centrists, they probably still think CNN is an unbiased news source.

I'd say most of my immediate family and about half of my "meat-space" friends are all for Palin running. About 50/50 for my online acquaintances. Of those that don't like her, about 50/50 there as well between establishment RINO's who support someone else and outright Leftwingers.

All of this is just my opinion. All of the pundits and pollsters I've seen coming out against her are all part of the "usual suspects" crowd. I'm not trusting any polling data until the Primaries start.

And neither should you.

Good point. Every enemy of the Constitution, of America, and of freedom is telling her not to run. Perhaps they have a point.

I don’t start following the “who is running and who will win” meme until around February of the year of the election. Until then I follow it for mild entertainment value, because that’s all it is worth.

I’m 57 and have been through a lot of election cycles. ;)

“As soon as she says sh;e not running (if she says that), the media will loose interest in her faster than you can say boo.”

This is true. Which is why mnehring makes a good point:

“There is a quote from the Art of War that has been on the tip of my tongue for the past week or so that I just can’t remember (and haven’t had a chance to look up). It involved giving your enemy one target while you position your strength in another place.”

I just hope Palin gets out ahead so decisively, very early, so we can put out money into RINO hunting senators and congress-critters.

I think we should focus on NATIONAL elections proudly saying GO REPUBLICAN ALL THE WAY and the little local races will all come along on the coat tails.

I saw so much money wasted on local elections last November, and when election day came I could not tell you who was D or R - we need to avoid that and focus all our money and effort on 2 things:
1) RINO HUNTING in THE PRIMARIES!!!!
2) then REPUBLICAN all the way in the national election

And speaking of presenting the enemy with one target while you position somewhere, it reminds me that Sarah was a point guard in high school b-ball.

I want as many squishy liberals as possible, like Huntsman, to run—and peel off pieces of the Romney vote.

It applies differently to different people. I’d LOVE for her to be president. I just think it is as likely as is would be for Rush to be president. ‘Course, the country will be a very different place by next year, so really, who knows.

At this point if the Republicans blackmail her I wouldn’t blame her for running as an Independent.

“They know she’s inevitable.
They knew it the first time they saw her.”

Excellent observation.

However, I believe it was cemented for them when they saw the wildly cheering SRO crowds wherever she went, the homemade signs, the lines in the arctic cold at her book signings, and the off-the-charts ratings for her TV show.

The fear is palpable.

Do you remember the frightening, dangerous, duncelike laughingstock the media made Reagan out to be in the late 70’s?

Yes. But he was running against Carter. Plus, he had a SOLID reputation on which he ran. And the press was not in Carter’s pocket which, on a side note, tells me we didn’t need the internet as a counterbalance to the MSM then as much as we do now.

>>And the center, sadly, is who determines who wins.<<

I say it’s time we nominate someone like Palin who actually stands on principle and doesn’t back down then let God decide who wins. No more of this who we think can get elected only to have them be almost as bad as the Dems. Let’s try it, just one time.
