For the first time ever, the Obama administration is taking steps to register rifles sold through firearms dealers begininning January 5, 2011.
It seems that otherwise law-abiding rifles used for recreationplinking, hunting and shooting competitions and self-defense while north of the Mexican border, turn into stone cold cartel killers once they cross south of the Rio Grande. There's no data on whether their criminal behavior continues after they return to U. S. or if they revert to their previous good citizenship.
Obama's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has requested emergency approval from the White House Office of Budget Management to require 8,500 federally-regulated firearms retailers in four states to report two or more sales to the same purchaser within 5 days of rifles that fire a round larger than .22 long rifle.
According to Scripps News, the goal isn't to stop sales but to just allow authorities to immediately seek out the buyer and try to determine his motives. OK, but while they're at it, how about an investigation of the editorials at Scripps, just to determine their motives?
The new Obama registration would apply to semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines larger than five rounds. It would include a majority of the rifles manufactured in the last 75 years.
With typically Obama graciousness, however, BATFE plans to allow public comments for 60 days, though the rule would be enforced while comments are received.
Let's see, we can comment
but only after the fact.
Why rifles must be cleaned.
“Cool, the 5.56mm of an AR-15 is only .22 caliber.”
It’s .223
That’s larger than .22
I wouldn’t register them; becausee Obama can’t register himself as a citizen of the US.
That’s just it, there aren’t any guns being bought here going south like what they are sying.
The guns being used down in Mexico are full auto, you can’t buy those here without federal licensing, transfer fees, etc etc etc.
It is a strawman argument used by those who are against the second amendment.
The ‘gun problem’ in Mexico is due to desertion from the Mex military, cartels buying from China, Cuba, South Africa and other rogue suppliers.
Guns going south from the US are never purchased, they are STOLEN.
AR15 is .223
Totally different critter than a .22 LR round...
That’s good !
Gee! Post#5 has disappeared into cyberspace . I guess fecal is now a no-no on FR??

My answer to the thugs would be, "F#& you. None of your G$* damned business."
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
They will also expand it to include others types of firearms until it encompasses everything.
Then once they got a read on what people own, they can start questioning Why you need a certain number.
Sort of like Obammer saying that at some point youve made enough money.
Watch them come out and say: At some point you have too many guns.
Here we go...
Us. Not the cartels.
More than likely they are getting lots of untraceable cash from the cartels and they are friends. What else explains it?
Mexican gangsters are packing military hardware. Handgrenades, rocket launchers, machine guns.
(Never seen an M/AR do that).
I think so, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him give speeches in a bulletproof box. He’d be in it all alone with his teleprompters.
