A new study released by the University of Maryland shows American voters to be vastly misinformed. Even worse, the same study points to the media as the cause of much of this misinformation. The study involved a poll of 616 self-reported voters in the week after the 2010 midterm election. Voters were asked where they get their news from, and then asked about a number of verifiable facts. For instance, voters were asked whether the TARP program, otherwise known as the bailout, was started under President Bush or President Obama. Over 40% of respondents said President Obama started TARP even though TARP was signed into law by President Bush on October 3rd of 2008. This sort of misinformation within the American electorate shows up again, and again, and again in crucial areas of public policy.

What this poll really means is that they are not brain washed like the idiots at University of Maryland. I would love to see the see that poll and the questions that were answered. Moreover, the people that were polled. 1,000,000.00 it’s rigged.
1,000,000.00 to 1 its rigged.
- 68% of Americans said the stimulus package saved or created only a few jobs. 20% said that the stimulus caused a loss of jobs. Only 8% said the stimulus saved or created millions of jobs. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates the stimulus saved or created anywhere between 2.0 to 5.2 million jobs. A survey of economist from The Wall Street Journal found that the stimulus had a “net positive effect” on growth.
- 53% of Americans believe the health care reform law will increase the deficit. According to the CBO the Affordable Care Act will reduce the deficit by $124 billion through 2019.
- 55% of voters believe that the economy is getting worse. The U.S. Bureau of Economist had the American GDP growing by 2.5% over the last quarter. The average Americans income grew by 0.5% over the month of October.
Most non Fox News watchers have no idea that democracy is MOB RULE by mobsters.. and democrats are the MOB..
Tides Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation as supporters.
I’m surprised. /s
Univ. of Maryland study finds CNN News viewers to be misinformed on key issues. They just had a typo now fixed.
It’s all about which questions they chose to ask, and how they decide who’s “wrong”. Utterly bogus.
People will believe anything.
The beautiful state of Maryland is so overwhelmingly leftist that it hurts to even go visit there anymore.
HMMM so if over 40% were wrong that means that the “majority” were right! DUH
TARP itself was signed by Pres. Bush, but the massive stimulus bill that brought our budget close to 3 trillion was pushed and signed by Obama. So the economic woes we have today are a result of spending sprees by Obama and the Democrats, NOT Pres. Bush, as the Dems want everyone to believe.
Silly Regime Media propaganda.
to be misinformed on terrapin issues ( Webfoot Alert)
Fairy Tales...from the University of Fairyland.
“53% of Americans believe that President Obama was the only President responsible for the bailout of Chrysler and GM. In December of 2008 the Bush administration distributed $17.4 billion to the auto industry as part of the TARP program.”
This is a red herring. The purpose of TARP money was to shore up troubled institutions financially until they got back on their feet. After that they were to pay the TARP funds back to the govt. Obama’s crime was to prevent a legal bankruptcy proceeding in order to illegally dispossess bondholders, then use TARP money to take ownership while cutting in his union buddies.
“The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates the stimulus saved or created anywhere between 2.0 to 5.2 million jobs.”
Yeah, but the Obama’s CBO used Administration guidelines to make this estimate. I heard Jared Bernstein describe a technique on NPR. They applied arbitrarily assigned multipliers to various stimulus outlays to “estimate” jobs created or saved.
“Misinformed” = “Don’t believe state-run media’s propaganda.”
I think it’s a lot worse than that. The recent promiscuous use of the word “misinformed” by Obama’s advisers are part of the administration’s attacks on free speech. For a while, we saw Obama’s press flunkies throwing around the word “sedition”. It didn’t go over too well, so they’ve softened it to “misinform” which implies a deliberate falsehood rather than a difference of opinion.
Bot so. The “facts” as they claim them are lies.
Maryland has 2 conservatives, my neice and her husband.
Hey, you forgot me. I know two more, so that’s five of us. :)
OOPs sorry...:O(
