From the New York Daily News website:Prince Chunk, the astonishingly fat cat whose plight captivated the nation, has died.
The portly pussycat passed away in his sleep Sunday just days after he was diagnosed with heart disease, his owner said.
Were all upset, said Vince Damiani, 20, of Blackwood, N.J. We lost a family member.
Chunk became an international sensation two years ago when he was discovered wandering the streets of Voorhees, N.J., and was dropped off at the Camden County Animal Shelter.
The tubby tabby had been abandoned after his owner lost her home to foreclosure a tale that was splashed across newspapers from New York to New Zealand.
Chunk was said to tip the scales at 44 pounds and was waltzed down red carpets and treated like royalty by morning TV hosts.

Second it, RIP Prince Chunk! =^..^=
Ping this one to you Slings and Arrows!:)=^..^=
That’s sad. I guess cats are prone to heart disease just like humans. Good to know this guy ended up with a good family.
Sad to say, true.=^..^=
What happened - new chinese restaurant?
Here is the article from NY Dailynews:
My last moggie had diabetes-she died from liver failure.
Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Did you give her daily injections? I had a friend who did that for her diabetic kitty. He lived to be 14, I think - a few years after he was diagnosed if I remember correctly. I don’t think he liked the injections but it wasn’t as difficult as I would have imagined.
Awwww.
Hims was just big-boned. Thas all.
I will be back later with a picture of Bowie. He’s half the cat Prince Chunk was, but I think he is actually longer. He is two years old.
Thats sad. Looks like a purring pillow with paws.
I did not know that some breeds like the Bombay cat won’t drink still water, out of the half dozen I have the biggest is a Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest cat and he is still growing.
He not fat. He fluffy.
*snif-snif*
Awww!
I CAN HAS NOMS?
My neighbor has a big ol’ 18 pound tabby, long hair. His paws are 2” wide. When he wants your lap, you give it to him. Otherwise, he will bite. He is such a GUY I can’t believe he was ever a kitten. Now, because of his owner’s age and health, I’m afraid for either of them to die. Whichever is left will be devastated.
It’s the price we pay for having them - not that that makes it any easier.
Awwww, poor kitty. Well, at least when he passed he was a well kept and well loved fella.
My Catie is almost as big as the Prince. And I swear my girl does NOT live by the food dish. I spend a lot of time in her sweet presence and, having....... several....... kittehs, I tend to monitor who’s eating what, (as well as the pooping, piddling, sleeping and squabbling habits of all). I think she has metabolism issues, but her personal physician (Vet) told me that’s rare in cats. What does he know. She’s MY baby.
My sincere condolence to the family of Prince Chunk. I know they will miss him.
