Upton Relied On Industry-Crushing Environmentalists

Yesterday’s Politico article:

“Our work on light bulbs wasn’t an arbitrary mandate,” he said. “We didn’t just pick a standard out of the air, or look for a catchy sounding standard like 25 by 2025 not based in science or feasibility. Instead, we worked with both industry and environmental groups to come up with a standard that made sense and was doable.”

Congressman Fred Upton's work with environmental groups is what needs to be highlighted in this article.

Global Warming theory is thoroughly debunked. It is not only not caused by human industry, it is not happening. Moreover, the Congressman is seeking the top spot on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the chair of such a committee must realize this.

Further, the fluorescent bulbs that are held in favor by extremist environmentalists contain mercury, one of the elements the green movement decries when killing coal plants. Their hypocrisy is stunning.

Upton is the grandson of the co-founder of Whirlpool. Interestingly, he shares the name of Francis Upton, mathematician for Edison.

LED lights are much better than CFLs. I still like to use a few heat balls around the house though. The gov’t should go fiddle with itself.

Will someone be able to re-introduce the incandescent as a heatball?

I have a message for Mr. Upton. “On the day that I install a fluorescent lightbulb in my house, we will all be ice skating in hell and there will be pigs flying overhead.” Same goes for LED. I have a supply of incandescent bulbs to last me the remainder of this lifetime and half of another. Don’t like it? Get over it!

LEDs are not much more expensive than CFLs.

LEDs are ubiquitous outside of residential lighting. If you are ag'in 'em, it's going to be a losing battle.

Hey Freddie......if you are STUPID enough to fall for this leftist garbage that a LIGHT BULB WITH MERCURY THAT HAS TO BE DISPOSED OF BY HAZMAT is going to “Save the Planet”, then you are too STUPID to be Chairman!! Get in the back of the line!!

LEDs are not much more expensive than CFLs.

They are much more expensive when quality LED's of the necessary color temperature are used, required heatsinking is factored in, and a power supply to convert 120 VAC to non-flickering DC is used.

I've been using LED flashlights since before they were sold in stores.

"a power supply to convert 120 VAC to non-flickering DC is used. "

P/S I've seen are basically a 4 diode rectifier, a capacitor and a current limiting resistor. With enough LEDs in series, the power dissipation of the resistor is relatively small. I don't particularly like the color of CFLs either.

he Sun seems to be the correct color for illumination.

Thanks jenk. Those duplicate titles are separate topics. Newest to oldest, a couple irrelevant ones removed. IMHO, Michigan flipped Pubbie because of unemployment, an unpopular incompetent foreign-born Rat governor, and Obama's having turned on John Dingell in favor of Henry Waxman.

Worst headline of the day award.

Is Upton in favor of industry-crushing, or is he in favor of crushing environmentalists?

Gee, what do you think? What could it possibly mean? I wonder if I need to write, Larry Lucido complains about stupid stuff nobody cares about. But, would anyone understand if I meant that the stuff he complains about is stupid, or if nobody cares that his stupid stuff is complained about, or what?

Did you know anything about the stuff I wrote about before I wrote about it? If so, share the information. If not, GET OFF MY BACK!

I live in Uptons district, and I have voted against him 3 times now. Voted Libertarian twice, and voted for his primary challenger this year.
