No big vanity here, guys (nor, perish the thought, an "opus").
I just wanted to observe the fact that I've been on this forum for 10 years today, and to thank Jim Robinson for the opportunity to vent my spleen and express whatever humorous or (hopefully) thoughtful impulses happen to drift through my transom. And when they do, it is often at the instigation and inspiration of many of you here assembled. You folks have become like an extended family to me, and yes, I truly mean that.
Thank you all for your passion, your humor and your continuing commitment to help restore the kind of America I recall so fondly as a child and a young man.
I sincerely hope that in another ten year's time, we will have taken steps toward restoring the nation we all love, and I know instinctively that all of you will have helped participate in that effort.
Best regards,
Andy
Congrats on making it 10 years. Seems like only yesterday when I clicked on the Whitewater link on Drudge.
;)
good show andy!
I wish I had found the site earlier. Would have helped a lot
Mostly good memories here.. a few “shaky” ones ...
Well, in dog years, my FR account just turned 70.
I’m actually very fond of my spleen. I’ve just found that that sometimes, it needs to get some fresh air. ;-)
MFJ = modified final judgment?
That three hundred pound boulder ticked me off so bad that I picked it up by myself and tossed it.
Then messed up my back something fierce.
We moved from there about two years ago.
We’d wanted to grab a flatbed and bring the rock to the current place, but never got anyone with a truck willing to haul the trailer.
Ended up leaving five roses behind too.
:(
My dreaded coffee:
In 12 cup drip percolator pot, fill to 6 cup mark with water.
In filter, put 6 heaping scoops of coffee.
Medium roast works best, just make sure it’s a robust blend.
Found a maxwellhouse ‘medium roast’ that was rather anemic.
Put pinch of salt in filter, about as much as it would take to cover the surface of a dime with one even layer.
This keeps the coffee from tasting burned too quickly, it doesn’t age well brewed this way.
Brew, recirculate if need be, usually not.
Add sugar and dairy creamer.
Creamora and coffeemate are not recommended unless you like the heart racing that Ranger Pudding gives.
That, and the nondairy creamer will give you both a headache and a buzz with the coffee.
I usually put about 8 spoons of sugar in this stuff, it ends up being like Russian Kava, thick and sweet with that bitter overtone to it.
Oh, and I am NOT responsible for seeming demonic possession of the coffeepot, or the coffeepot ending up acting as if it has been damaged.
I just did 9, my 10 year birthday is next 11/01/11
Ha....in dog years, I’m 28 days your senior....making you even more of a n00b!!!!!
Don’t drink the stuff often.
That sounds like my preferences, though.
I’ve been brewing that stuff for years.
And it has been joked about in my family for quite a long time.
LOL. Funny how I remember that rock. Did you move out of state or just move to another house? I think of you often, but don’t see you that much here. It may be that I’m so fixed on reading instead of who is commenting. I’m growing old, Darks. I’m getting forgetful and slowing down. Still working though.
Yikes! That sounds lethal. I would be in my grave by sundown if I drank something like that.
Moved three miles over, down the road and around the corner.
I’d wante to get some stone mason tools and carve that rock for LadyX.
She’d passed on about the same day or so that I moved that rock.
But the granite wasn’t of a good enough quality for it.
Very disappointing.
Grave by sundown?
For me it’s more like by sunup as I work third shift.
Speaking of which, I’d started a vampire tale.
Been posting bits and snippets of my several stories in the Undead Thread series
I signed up the day after the Bush v Gore election.

Sorry I didn't get around to sending you a birthday card...........
