Home Secretary Theresa May confirms that a suspect package found on a plane could have exploded. "The target may have been an aircraft and had it detonated the aircraft could have been brought down," she said. The explosive material is PETN (see above video)

The bombs set to go off on passenger jets and synagogues by Muslim terrorists "were expertly constructed."

Yemeni security forces have also launched a wider search for more suspects believed to be linked to the Yemeni branch of al Qaeda and the mail bombs, AFP reported, citing local media reports.

•Investigations into bomb threat continue •Link suggested with recent plane crash •Student quizzed in Yemeni capital Engineering student Hanan Al Samawi, 22, was detained along with her mother after being traced by a receipt for the packages which were found on freighter jets in Britain and Dubai in an alleged al Qaeda plot.

Two parcel bombs were found on the planes and a further 26 packages have been seized in Yemen's capital Sanaa since.

Officials said the two women were arrested as part of the hunt for a number of suspects believed to have used forged documents and ID cards that played a role in the plot.

Yemeni security forces have also launched a wider search for more suspects believed to be linked to the Yemeni branch of al Qaeda and the mail bombs, AFP reported, citing local media reports.

The Washington Post and Britain's Sunday Telegraph reported that investigators believed the mastermind behind the plot was a Saudi bomb-maker who last year sent his brother to his death in an effort to kill a Saudi prince.

Did these have detonators or initiators or was this a dry run to see if they could get the explosives through?

Muslim cultists have blown up and firebombed and converted and desecrated thousands of churches over the 1300 hundred years of rampage... most recently in kosovo-—where the US under the Clinton regime helped them do it.

The pic of the device I saw from CNN didn’t look “expertly constructed.” It looked like it was built by a moron with a cordless screwdriver and a glue gun.

“Expertly constructed” but they didn’t go off. Not that expertly I guess.

“Al-Qaeda militants hold hostages in Baghdad church - Summary

Baghdad - Members of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq were holding hostages inside a church in central Baghdad on Sunday and threatened to kill them if security forces, who have surrounded the building, tried to enter.

“An armed attack targeted the Sayedat al-Najah Church in al-Karrada, central Baghdad,” Qassem Atta, spokesman for Baghdad Operations Command, told state-run Iraqiya TV. “Security forces are cordoning off the church and dealing with the situation,” he added.

Security forces managed to secure the release of 19 nuns from the Syrian Catholic church, but dozens more people were still believed to be inside, Iraqi Christian parliamentarian Yonadem Kana told the German Press Agency dpa.

The militants were demanding the release of al-Qaeda members in Iraq and Egypt, Al-Baghdadiya TV reported.

It was not clear how many people were being held, but women and children were reportedly among the hostages.

Witnesses told dpa that the church was targeted during the Sunday service, adding that the sound of gunfire could be heard across al- Karrada.

“Churches used to be attacked in this neighbourhood, but not recently,” said one of the area’s residents. “We are not used to this anymore.”

An armed group of gunmen tried to raid nearby Baghdad Capital Market on Sunday evening using stun bombs, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.

The market guards withstood the attack, and the gunmen withdrew in the direction of Sayedat al-Najah Church.

Sources at the Interior Ministry only confirmed that four people were injured earlier when two bombs went off consecutively outside the church. No further details were available.

Security officials said the Baghdad Capital Market had now been secured and was ready to resume business, al-Baghdadiya TV reported.

Iraq has seen increased violence in recent months, as the stalled process of government formation drags into its eighth month.

Iraqi Christians faced sectarian attacks and death threats after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003. The United Nations Human Rights Council estimates that around 50 per cent of Iraq’s Christians have fled the country since then.

The Christians left Iraq many years BEFORE we got there in 2003.

A pastor with a congregation of 50 threatens to burn the koran and it makes world news for weeks drawing condemnation from "commander zero" and assorted world leaders.

This, however, doesn't earn a mention on page 3.
