Go Ahead, Conservatives. De-fund NPR
Three Fingers of Politics ^ | October 25, 2010 | Blind Blueberry

No, I mean it. Go ahead and de-fund it. You’ve taken so much else away, why not that?

You’re not satisfied that your market gods crushed the plucky, idealistic underdogs at Air America and scattered them to CNN, HLN and the Senate. It’s not enough that you used your overwhelming majorities, er, ideological um, group-think, to stymie the agenda of a young president and the good people that sought to help him.

You’ve demonized a grandmother from San Francisco, and so ferociously attacked the courageous Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee that his life partner had to spring to Barney Frank’s aid, armed only with a video camera, his wits, and the nurturing love you oh-so-sophisticated types scoff at.

The truth is you’ve always hated NPR because it’s a symbol of a way of life you don’t understand – a simple life focused on the enduring things. To us, good honest theatre still matters, as does the timeless craftsmanship of a New Yorker cartoon, or a well-made lemon flan with autumn fruit compote.

I suppose we can’t expect you to understand the traditions of us “fly-into country” folks. You can’t know the simple pleasures of settling in with a soy latte, the New York Times Books section and the familiar strains of “Sunday Baroque” on the old Bose Wave. It must seem corny to you that a step-mother would find time in a busy schedule full of Racial Studies Department meetings, poetry readings and “Take Back the Night” demonstrations to give a child an appreciation for “All Things Considered.”

“So go ahead, conservatives, de-fund NPR. Then see how you like living in a world without “JazzSet.”

(gasp) perhaps we haven’t thought this through?

Three Fingers of Politics huh? I would bet that this writer had two of those fingers in his nose, and the other stuck up his ass as he wrote this drivel.

Wow, talk about an idiotic article..

“autumn fruit compote”

Would that be Truman Compote? He was a little fruity, wasn’t he?

Is this real or satire? I just can’t tell anymore

If she wants to sit back and sip a latte with a good book why would republicans stop her? I dont see her so-called point?

This is the problem with liberals- they think their solution is for th GOVERNMENT to pass a law for us all to sipp latte and listen to bose wave (a nice piece of equipment- built by market forces I might add)

So they think REPUBLICANS want to also pass laws for the government to force them not to drink latte’s.

Their projection is that we think the way THEY think- that we will make the government force them to stop being liberal

I used to contribute to Temple Public Radio, but back in the 90’s, when The Republican Congress was considering eliminating funding for public broadcasting, before they lost their nerve, instead of asking the listeners for more contributions, the public broadcasters implored us to call or write our congress critters to beg them to keep funding for public broadcasting.

Instead of doign that, I called my congressman to ask him to defund public broadcasting, and I quit contributing. I hope the Republicans keep their nerve this time.

The author fails to explain why everyone should be taxed to support an arm of the DNC. Conservative voices are forced to support their views, but in the Libtard mindset, they feel entitled to demand that everyone should be forced to support their viewpoint.

The problem is this Libtard is simply not smart enough to recognize the hypocrisy he is spouting.

Oh yes, I do...and did.Typical libtard. It’s totally alien to these close-minded elitist imbeciles that conservatives enjoy life’s pleasures at their own choosing.

I love the way someone put it last week- How would liberals feel if we asked them to force the government to fund Rush Limbagh on the radio
