Freep-a-thon- Give a minimum of $10 OR admit you believe in Welfare 'cause someone's paying for You

We all know that every one of us is going to blow ten bucks at McDonalds, Wendys, someplace in the next 24 hours.

That's why it's simply not believable that everyone can't send at least ten bucks.

It's election season and you're going to get no better election info and discussion than here on Free Republic. It's just a fact.

Let's knock this freep-a-thon out and get fully into the campaign.

BTW, my sense is that the lawsuit against Free Republic should make us MORE determined to protect this treasure that Jim & John have provided us in FR. No one's said anything, but lawyers cost extra cash. A major equipment crash and burn a while back costs extra cash. This is all to say that there's a real need.

Finally, there is no other discussion and response software anyplace that even comes close to what the Robinsons have created. And it's exclusively available to conservatives.

A minimum of 10 bucks, folks.

Othewise you admit that you believe in Welfare, because someone else is paying for your time here.

Nonsense. I thought this post was a subtle and humorous way to remind us to donate.

Thanks for the reminder xzins, I’m going to pledge a donation this morning. I also thank you for your many thoughtful and well-reasoned comments over the years.

>>>>you know what they say about opinions

They’re like wazoo apertures. We all got’em, And they often stink. I concur with post #12... plus, the economy being what it is, and unemployment, etc. many are budgeted down to the last dollar every week, and have precious little to spare.

To cast anyone who doesn’t give as you see fit in a negative light is abominable.

Obviously some consider it offensive. I'm just saying, there might be a more conducive approach.

Thanks Dragon.

There’s are very, very few good excuses for taking advantage of someone else’s giving.

I personally don’t believe that every American can’t spring for ten bucks.

I simply don’t believe it.

Amen brother.

I posted something similar to this on another thread today.

I wish Jim would just charge a minimum annual fee and then run a FReeperthon only if the fees are not enough to sustain.

With hundreds of thousands of posters and lurkers a small annual fee would provide millions and obviate the need for quarterly FReeperthons.

If there is anyone that can't afford a buck or two a month, stop posting and lurking and get another job or two jobs or three jobs.

B___S___

Everyone in America can afford 10 bucks a quarter.

If welfare queens can chain smoke, then that means welfare is enough to spring for 10 bucks

I simply don’t believe that Americans in McDonald land can’t afford 10 bucks every 3 months.

No way they’re telling the truth

BS.

It’s fact.

Even 10 year old americans come up with over 10 bucks per quarter.

Even complainers are suspect, imho, of being leaches off of other’s sense of responsibility.

Ah, projection. Maybe not the lowest form of argument but definitely sucking mud near the bottom.

Your unbridled bigotry is offensive to me.

That your narrow mind can’t see that there may very well be people who budget down to their last dollar, and freep from a public library and don’t even own a computer is pure prejudice on your part.

And I repeat - for you to denigrate anyone based on their ability go give, or not give as YOU see fit is class warfare, and abominable.

Stop your prejudice and bigotry.

Here’s the thing, people. Count up how many days a month you read Free Republic. For a lot of us, it’s nearly every day. Next, take a gander at the cost of a daily newspaper—$1 in most areas. Finally, remember that if you’re receiving a cable news channel, you’re paying for that too. Even if the content on Free Republic were the same as the daily newspaper, no more, no less, that’s $30 for a month’s worth of news, plus the percentage of your cable bill for the cable news.

But what you read here is more reliable and up to date than anything you can find in either a newspaper or a cable newscast. News appears here from sources that will not be published anywhere else—translations of news stories from foreign newspapers, intel from people (including published authors) that will not appear anywhere else, and expert analysis from our own Freepers—example: the exposure of the Dan Rather/CBS fraud started right here.

$1.00 a day to keep this valuable resource is more than reasonable. It’s vital. I’ve been a dollar a day person for a long while, and it’s worth every last penny of it.

But, I also have to admit, it’s a matter of priorities. In my case, I think FR is more important than the daily newspaper, which I dropped long ago—so I’m really not spending anything extra. Even if I were, I am SO concerned about the future of my country that I feel it’s crucial to keep an eye on what our enemies—external and internal—are up to. This is the only place that does that job well.

C’mon, folks. A dollar a day is easy, it’s inexpensive, and most people will learn a lot more here, than from their lattes or biased newspapers.

Sadly, all you have to do is follow some of the more casual conversations on FR to know that people do, indeed, spend more than that on fast food, bad newspapers, and worse magazines, just to name a few things. I guess it’s all about priorities. I’m thinking this upcoming election is going to be about priorities, too, and pretty soon we’ll know whether our country is a frivolous, lazy republic, or a free republic.
