Once or twice a year, the Looney Left holds some big protest or march that everybody's supposed to go to, and this is breathlessly promised to be THE DAY WHEN EVERYTHING FINALLY CHANGED! The DUmmies all get their hopes up: This is IT! At LAST! NOW we will have turned the corner! Socialist Utopia, here we COME!
Today, October 2, was the latest version of same. "One Nation Working Together," it was billed as, a coalition of 400 special interest groups--Big Union, Big Black, Big Homo, etc.--all rallying in D.C. to demand jobs, justice, blah, blah, blah. These 400 organizations bussed in their t-shirted members, who were required to attend. The weather was perfect. The righteousness of the cause and all that. . . . We're just a month out from the elections. . . . So, lots of energy, a huge success, right? Well, I must report, it looks like this rally turned out to be . . . The Day When Everything Finally . . . Flopped, v. 47.0.
I mean, it was pitiful, pathetic, embarrassing. Sparse crowds, lots of empty seats, lots of space and grass between the people. (No, I don't mean they were spacy and smoked grass, although that would be true, too.) Dull speakers, lifeless, no energy. Even the DUmmies--at least those brave enough to admit it--had to be disappointed and embarrassed.
Let's check in with them, shall we? Scads of threads to choose from, but I'm picking one posted by a brave soul named DUmmie stevedeshazer, i.e., this THREAD, "I hate to say this, but this 'One Nation Rally' is a disaster."
As always, the DUmmies are in Bolshevik Red, while the commentary of your humble guest correspondent, Charles Henrickson, who actually watched about an hour or so of this fiasco--the things I do for you people!--is in the [brackets]:
I hate to say this, but this 'One Nation Rally' is a disaster.
[DUmmie stevedeshazer, I see a Kewpie Doll--and a tombstoning--in your future!]
The attendance is way below expectations.
[What are you talking about?? I see tens of HUNDREDS of people!]
The organization is terrible.
[Just remind yourself: This is Obama Nation you are seeing. These are the people running our country.]
George Clinton and Parliament? Okay.
[Barack Obama and Congress? Not so good.]
Every interest group sends up someone to hump their cause. There's no organized effort at all. It appears that we are divided on everything.
[SEIU, LGBT, NAACP, AFT, LULAC, UAW . . . BINGO!]
Don't shoot the messenger, but we look really, really bad.
[So we will really, really shoot you!]
It is an embarrassment.
[DUmmie stevedeshazer, I think you are headed for the Kewpie Doll Hall of Fame!]
It's a loser. The teabaggers and the media are going to have a field day with this.
[And the DUmmie FUnnies, of COURSE!]
One Nation?
[What in tarnation??]
It was AWFUL. I'm embarrassed, frankly.
[An honest DUmmie. And brave!]
And for the poseurs like a certain fat redhead egotistical radio host who promised much more than he could deliver, thanks a pile.
[Blowhard Ed Schultz, this pile's for you!]
Wow, what a disappointment.
[Wow. Say it again: Wow.]
I sure hope people get out and vote, but nothing that happened today gives me any confidence that enough Dems and independents will turn out.
[One month to go. I'm sure Blowhard Ed Schultz and his followers--numbering in the TENS--will turn this thing around for you IN NO TIME!]
There, I said it. Flame on. We're really in trouble here. I expect for telling the truth, this thread will be locked.
[Speak truth to power, DUmmie stevedeshazer! But you may get a little reprieve for a while yet, since I'm sure all the DUmmieland brass were down there in D.C., standing with all the teeming throngs, listening attentively to all the stemwinder speeches, soaking up the atmosphere of complete VICTORY, and so it will be awhile before they come down from the mountaintop that was and is ONE NATION WORKING TOGETHER!!! So let's go to your fellow DUmmies . . .]
well, I don't think you're up for Mr. Popularity. . . .
[You may be up for Mr. LOUSY FREEPER TROLL!!!]
what on Earth are you basing this on? The attendance was great, the speakers were great, the coverage was very good.
[Repeat after me: 2 + 2 = 5. . . . Which is how many were left by the end.]
What rally do you watch? It was well attended and very meaningful.
[Please report to the Ministry of Truth for further re-education.]
I feel energized and inspired.
[I'm living in a DREAMWORLD! La de da de da. . . .]
I have watched some of it and the crowd looks good, the speeches for the most part were good and it looks organized.
["For the most part were good". . . . What a ringing endorsement!]
Democrats have many varied interests.
[All united under the banner of . . . GIVE US OURS!!!]
Ed Schultz was promoting it on his radio show heavily.
[No wonder DOZENS of people showed up!]
For that number of people to get on buses or drive to be there says there's something going on. . . .
[Union dues paying for it, union bosses requiring it. . . . So they got off the bus, showed up for a few minutes, and then took off.]
This was an important meeting for the progressive movement and the real big tent.
[So where were YOU, EFerrari (aka Doug's ex-wife)? Why weren't YOU there, gathered under the Big Top?]
Did you SEE the speakers today?
[Or did you nod off all the time, trying to keep your eyes open?]
Harry Belafonte, Ben Jealous, Jesse, Marian, so many.
[Real diversity there.]
I just saw some of the crowd photos in the other thread! Now *THAT* was exciting to see! Normal, rational signage!
I'm desperately seeking the silver lining, so I'll grab on and hold tight . . .
[. . . to my bong pipe. Calgon, take me away!]
You seem to be one misearable person, get out, go to the beach today . . .
[. . . and throw yourself in.]
I was planning on attending, but I ended up getting my appendix out instead.
[OK, but don't let it happen again!]
From what I saw on CSPAN the attendance was way over 10,000--though maybe not 300,000.
[I've seen bigger crowds at Florida Marlins' games. Heck, I've seen bigger crowds at Paint-Drying Conventions.]
I wish I had been there. And I would have been had my appendix not ruptured.
[In case of Rupture, this rally will be unattended.]
People can't live their lives based on what some overpaid TelePrompter reader or paid shill is going to say.
[Leave Obama and Olbermann out of this.]
If that's the case what's the point of even leaving our houses in the morning.
[Why even go upstairs out of the basement?]
it was successful. But I wasn't expecting too much. I think the message was not clarified enough.
[Another ringing endorsement!]
Don't seal up the doors and turn on the gas just yet. We have a month before the election. . . .
[THEN you can turn on the gas!]
It was Open House and for me - it was perfect. . . . It was perfect. . . . It was perfect. . . . It was perfect.
[It was PERFECT, I tell you!]
Dude.. Really?
[DUde!]
Frankly, I was worried it would be poorly attended and thus an embarrassing bust.
[This was the A-cup of embarrassing busts.]
George Clinton and Parliament..is that the best they could do?
[They were trying for KC and the Sunshine Band, but had to settle.]
Another whinny thread by OP.
[Yep, he's just a neigh-sayer.]
I would have to say Beck's rally was considerably bigger. . . . It felt like the crowd broke up far too early though and left some of the speakers later in the day talking to a very diminished crowd. . . . I know we had like 400 groups turning out people, and each group wants a slot, but it is just too much. . . . so we don't have images of people leaving during speeches and large chunks of lawn for a couple hours.
[It truly was a grassroots event!]
Not to rag on you or anything but back then a Colts game was the only game that us Pats fans thought we ever had a chance of winning.
How times have changed....
no ragging, we HAVE both won and lost our battles in that “war”.. :)!
Sheesh, that’s the rally? It looks like the soundcheck.
DUDE !!!!!!!!! Jerry’s dead !
Sssssh! You’ll blow his cover!
I love that guy, he’s classic!
Say No to No, LOL!
Reminded of one of my favorite quotes;
“To its committed members ( the democratic party) was still
the party of heart, humanity, and justice, but to those
removed a few paces it looked like Captain Hooks crew —
ambulance chasing lawyers, rapacious public policy grants
persons, civil rights gamesmen, ditzy brained movie stars,
fat assed civil servant desk squatters, recovering alcoholics,
recovering wife beaters, recovering child-buggers, and so forth
and so on, a grotesque line up of ill mannered, self pitying,
caterwauling freeloaders banging their tin cups on the pavement
demanding handouts”.
(The Washington post, 11/12/94) Nicholas Von
Hoffman
I think this shot is early morning.
LOLOL, because several MSM reports claimed that this rally had nothing to do with Beck’s, nosireebob, it was planned waaaaaaaaaaaaayy before Beck’s ever was (didn’t he start planning over a YEAR before 8/28?)—then all the DUmmies are bragging about their silver lining that it was ‘pretty good’ for something thrown together so quickly? BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
The “Bigger Than Beck” Union Astroturf Rally—Going down in history as the BIGGEST EPIC RALLY FAILURE E-V-E-R!
LOL. I was watching when my 9 y/o came in from her soccer game and sat down for lunch. She heard Don Madison bragging about ‘the aerial shot proves this rally is bigger than Beck’s!’ (she watched the entire Restoring Honor Rally with me and her dad), and she turns around and looks at me incredulously after seeing the sparse crowd, and says, “SERIOUSLY, Mom?? Are they SERIOUS??? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!”
This from a 9 year old! Who did the LSDers (liberals/leftists/statists/socialists/democrats/dummies) think they were trying to fool???
Just like a Sam Goldwin Technicolor 1890s period piece, in which the appropriately costumed actresses wore 1940s makeup, this guy represents a creative interpretation of 1969. Gotta hand it to him! Just hope his peace "NO" gladiator shield didn't double as a frisbee.
The DUers go to great lengths to prove this rally was better attended than 8/28 - using CBS' figure of 87,000, when we know it was around 800,000. LOL! (And most people, including Sarah Palin stayed for the whole program.) They go all out to compare the attendance figures of both rallies since attendance is one of the important benchmarks of their success.
One DUer tries to give an accurate accounting:
...So CBS says Beck got approx 87,000. From what I could tell, and comparing what I could see from the video of this crowd compared with Beck's crowd, I would have to say Beck's rally was considerably bigger. My guess is that this rally had around half the attendance of the Beck rally - so around 43,500. Round up and say 45K. 45K is not bad at all. Considering the months and months of promotion Beck's rally got and all the money poured in to get their people out compared with how little promotion our rally got, and I think the turnout wasn't bad....
And from another DUer:
Preliminary satellite estimates put the crowd size at 175,000 to 200,000 at about noon EST
We have yet to hear from the Martian rovers.
All of this is whetting the appetite for election night. I plan to carefully monitor DU as the results roll in. I predict THAT'S going to be one big night of wailing and tears, which will be extremely enjoyable for us. heh heh.
[In case of Rupture, this rally will be unattended.]
Too funny!
POST OF THE DAY!!!! Excellent!
First of all, I knew about half an hour in that this would be a flop. There were NO GIANT PUPPETS!
Second, after years of worrying and wringing my hands about how these demonstrations might switch public opinion, I have learned that they can NEVER produce an inspirational gathering. Their music is terrible and uninspiring, they have NO priorities so every loony cause gets equal time, they don’t know how to organize things, and they are slobs who never clean up after themselves.
Third, these are unpleasant and humorless people. If I were trapped in an elevator with a few of them, I would be rummaging through my purse looking for BP meds to overdose on.
I now hope that the October 30 Comedy Central rally goes on as scheduled, followed by a raging late tropical storm that keeps all of those people from getting home to vote.
I was planning on attending, but I ended up getting my appendix out instead.
Yeah. And he would have had his tonsils taken out too.
But the rally was over by then so he was safe.
[What in tarnation??]
That right there made me laugh out loud!
Ping!!
Probably something to do with actually expecting to be paid - lol!
