You know how bad things are for Democratic political figures these days? Even Andy Griffith's poll numbers have seen a significant decline in the last 2 years.
Our latest North Carolina poll found Griffith at 44/22 in the state for a net favorability of +22. That represents a 25 point decline from June of 2008 when Griffith was at a net +47 (56/9.)
There's not much doubt that it's Griffith's forays into politics, most recently in support of the health care bill, that are driving down his poll numbers. His 53% favorability with Democrats right now is only slightly down from 57% in the June 2008 poll. But with Republicans he's dropped all the way from 57% to 35%. He's only barely on positive ground with GOP voters, as 31% of them see him unfavorably.
Of course Bev Perdue, Kay Hagan, and Richard Burr would all die to have Griffith's poll numbers. They may be down but North Carolinians still like him a whole lot better than any elected official in the state.

Just saw his commercial ... the old man sneezes and his face will be flappin’ in the breeze
Old Andy got suckered good! Bless his little heart! ;-)
“free checkups”. Who is stupid enough to believe they’re free? Maybe just those greedy enough not to care that someone else is paying for them.
I liked Andy. But he is a tool now. Used by his demorat friends.
Over the years, I’ve often stopped at “The Andy Griffith Show” reruns while flipping through the tv-channels, as it’s often the only darned tolerable thing on at the moment. But after Griffith’s creepy Obamacare commercial, I just can’t get myself to even glance at him in the old series anymore without getting queasy.
Oh, and I’ve known of Griffith’s liberalism for decades (not to mention his real-life cranky/sour disposition), but somehow this promotion of Obama’s evil proved to be something of a crossed-line with me. I truly don’t think I’ll ever watch another “Andy Griffith Show” or “Matlock” again.
Oh watch his show ignore his ignorant commercials..........I really don’t believe he is in his right mind.
He has become “the runner who renown outran / and the name died before the man.”
He’s a senile old democrap. I still watch his show.
It’s quite possible, Don Knotts died so he would be spared seeing what would become of Andy.
He obviously had not checked out the accuracy of this ad before agreeing to do it. Given his age, I might cut him a little slack because we have no way of knowing his mental
capabilities.
Bad cracker.
Both Andy and Jimma -— Angry old men
I hear Andy in real life is a mean ‘ol drunk
Does anyone have this b*st*ard’s email? I tried calling the number provided at the end of the ad but got a blank when I refused to input my “Medicare” number. I wanted to ask to speak to Mr. Griffith and challenge his assertions. What a dumb *ss! I guess he wasn’t fooling when he played the dunce in “What it was was football.”
Every Conservative that I know despises this pos.
LLS
I could never stand Matlock because they were always introducing the culprit into the story at nearly the end of the show.
We have overlooked actor commercials, politics, etc. for years â but just can’t do it with issues as serious as they are now. So gone went Andy Griffith, Mayberry, Matlock, all of it â won’t be stopping on a single rerun anymore.
My 82 year old Mom thinks he looks nasty anymore. Said she would like to smack him upside the head! LOL
I like Andy Griffith as an actor; I still watch those old Matlock re-runs.
But after watching that TV ad (on Fox News, of all places), I have to feel sorry for him. He as aged significantly in the 15 years Matlock has been off the air.
This is the Andy I choose to remember...
