New Poll: Gillibrand Lead Down to 1 Point

Can you say "unbelievable upset in the making?" According to a new poll by Survey USA, the Senate race in New York between incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand and Republican challenger Joe DioGuardi may be just that. The poll states that DioGuardi is trailing Gillibrand by a single point, 45-44%.

Survey USA states

"New York voters will, unusually, elect 2 United States Senators in 2010. In the Special Election to fill the final 2 years of Hillary Rodham Clinton's term, incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand and former Congressman Republican Joe DioGuardi today finish effectively even, Gillibrand's nominal 1-point lead being within the survey's theoretical margin of sampling error. Gillibrand leads in the 5 boroughs of NYC, trails elsewhere. Men vote Republican, women vote Democrat and, in this contest, cancel each other out. Lower-income voters break significantly Democrat. Middle-income and upper-income voters break slightly Republican. "

Considering that New York is not only a Democratic stronghold but also was not even considered in danger of flipping, this election could make massive waves.

Gilli turned into a growth on Schumer’s armpit.

Maybe the voters are not amused.

How soon before the Democrat Media in NY cobble together a poll showing her with a 20 point lead?

I think we're into poll rigging....Buyer beware!!!

Both Gillibrand and Cuomo are in quicksand??

Repubs...VOTE.....Don't sit back....Remember Florida and what Timmy's early call did...made some complacent.

Even in New York. I expect the people in Delaware will come to their senses too. We just need Obama out there on the Campaign saying his stupid lines. I notice the Propagandists he puts on TV are really getting killed by the Republican Operatives in the good cop bad cop spots. They have no rational talking points.

You have a VERY GOOD POINT but this elections polls are very very strange

Paladino was said to be tied with lazio in the polls last Monday- then on Tuesday HE BEAT HIM BY 25% (a landslide)

New York VOTERS ARE FED UP WITH ALBANY

From new york daily news TODAY:

“Incumbency seems not to be an advan tage in this highly unusual election season. Just ask Andrew Cuomo.

“The generally authoritative Quinnipiac Polling Institute yesterday put upstate upstart Carl Paladino within six percentage points of Cuomo in the race for governor of New York.

“[...]Paladino rode upstate anger with Albany to a stunning upset in last week’s Republican gubernatorial primary — and he didn’t do it with a spoonful of Pablum in his mouth.

“Let’s be blunt, like Paladino. He says that when he gets to Albany, he’s going to kick in the door, lob in a hand grenade and then machine-gun the survivors.

They would be the incumbents. “

Between this and the governor's race the Democrats are going to have to dump tens of millions into a campaign in what for them should have been safe seats. You could have funded the entire West Virginia race for what one prime time commercial will cost in New York. And the LA market isn't cheap either so they may have to decide if they want to save Brown/Boxer or Cuomo/Gillibrand. And if our candidates play this right they might not save any of them.

If GOP pulls off this upset, O’Donnell won’t matter (of course...if GOP wins in NY, then O’Donnell is going to win, Blumenthal in CT will lose, Reid will lose, and so will Murray...as the angel of death slowly makes its way west.....man, election night is going to be AWESOME!)

A Quinnipiac poll out today put Gillibrand’s lead shrinking to 6% and a thread at FR noted Quinnipiac’s reputation as favoring Democrats. It would seem that that favoritism has been quantified as 5% given the results of this “Survey USA” opinion poll.

Yesterday's Quinnipiac poll gave Andrew Cuomo a massively pared-down lead of 6% over Carl Paladino. I could easliy believe there's also a 5% Quinnipiac “Democrat tilt” in those results.

Mmmm! Mmmm! Mmmm!

Uggghh-I knew both her and Chuckie were vulnerable for a year now. Lazio should have put his balls in a wheelbarrow and tried to take down Chuckie.

That would have been awesome.

Well, this is weird. Siena College Poll has Gillibrand up 57-31%, and Cuomo up 57-24%. Must’ve polled people on the street in Harlem.

Damned polls are all over the map.

If Reid, his hottie, and his pet all lose maybe they will all move in together, get a house in the suburbs. Nice doghouse for Coons in the yard. He can fetch the paper every morning.
