I can’t stand it...it’s just too good to pass up….normally I write only one column a week…but this week is special…I’ll just keep on going.

Yesterday was the US Senate vote on S-3454, which was the controversial Military Appropriations bill which include the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell rescission amendment. The bill was defeated when 43 Senators voted against it.

So, what’s so special about this?

Well, here’s the list of the 43…….

NAYs ---43

Alexander (R-TN) Barrasso (R-WY) Bennett (R-UT) Bond (R-MO) Brown (R-MA) Brownback (R-KS) Bunning (R-KY) Burr (R-NC) Chambliss (R-GA) Coburn (R-OK) Cochran (R-MS) Collins (R-ME) Corker (R-TN) Cornyn (R-TX) Crapo (R-ID)

DeMint (R-SC) Ensign (R-NV) Enzi (R-WY) Graham (R-SC) Grassley (R-IA) Gregg (R-NH) Hatch (R-UT) Hutchison (R-TX) Inhofe (R-OK) Isakson (R-GA) Johanns (R-NE) Kyl (R-AZ) LeMieux (R-FL) Lincoln (D-AR) Lugar (R-IN)

McCain (R-AZ) McConnell (R-KY) Pryor (D-AR) Reid (D-NV) Risch (R-ID) Roberts (R-KS) Sessions (R-AL) Shelby (R-AL) Snowe (R-ME) Thune (R-SD) Vitter (R-LA) Voinovich (R-OH) Wicker (R-MS)

Not Voting - 1

Murkowski (R-AK)

Notice over in the right hand column, the name Reid (D-NV)….is this Harry Reid? None other…..but did the main stream media make any comment about his ‘nay’ vote?

Not a word. In fact, take a look at this article from the Associated Press:

news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gays_military

If this is too long, then just Google up ‘Anne Flaherty Associated Press’ and the article will come up as …. ‘Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban’. (dated Sept. 21) …there is not one word...nay, not one that mentions Harry Reid’s vote. In fact the title of the article lays the entire blame on the Republican party…..no one else.

One of the rules of the Senate provides that those who vote on the winning side can ask for a re-vote.

Those on the losing side cannot.

It isn't unusual for the leader to vote so as to ask for a re-vote later.

He will ask for a re-vote if he gets enough votes to win.

It was a non-story as you can see by the number of replies.
