Corporate America to East Coast Elitists: Take a hike!
Thats one way to interpret the fact that business recruiters now rank Penn State, Virginia Tech and Purdue among the top 25 schools that produce the most qualified college graduates, according to a Wall Street Journal study.
Asked by the Journal to rate majors and schools that
best prepare students to land jobs that are satisfying, well-paid and have growth potential, . . . recruiters made clear they preferred big state schools over elite liberal arts schools, such as the Ivies.
The results showed that while recruiters still hire Ivy League grads, far fewer ranked them as top picks.
We have none of the basic bread-and-butter courses that serve you well in much of industry, said Harvard economics professor Claudia Goldin, who explained that more than 55 percent of graduates went on to pursue a doctorate degree within a few years of graduation.

A better site that grades colleges on the “quality” of education students receives is whatwilltheylearn.com. It grades universities on whether they are teaching students what they need to learn to succeed.
Harvard, Ivy league schools and “elitist” private colleges, as well as Berkley, Occidental, University of Virginia-Charlottesville etc... get “D’s or “F”s.
Schools that get an “A” Texas A&M, University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, Baylor, West Point, Air Force Academy.
Virginia Tech, University of Oklahoma, University of Texas-Austin, etc... get a “B”.
Parents, business and the general public are starting to wake up to the financial ponzi scheme Harvard and the like provide and the fact a student can get a better education at a state college for a much better price.
Does Coach Joe have anything to do with that? He’s a pretty no-nonsense guy; it would be nice to think the business department is as down-to-earth.
Interesting site. I checked out my alma mater which received a "C"...fair enough I suppose; there's no excuse for not requiring American History at Gettysburg. The school does have a Religion requirement for all students which was not one of the evaluation criteria, and the site didn't give credit for "Composition" although all freshman are required to undertake a colloquy/seminar which is writing intensive.
We are...... PENN STATE!
Hey, our last two presidents went through Harvard. The two before that went to Yale, and look at how well we’re doing.
Going to an Ivy League school gives a person connections with other elites, and teaches their students to treat ordinary people like they are insignificant.
Don’t get too excited. Penn State is also home to the global warming con artist, Michael Mann.
