Over the past week, several political-insider wizards of smart have deemed Republican senatorial hopeful Christine ODonnell unelectable almost taking it to the point of vitriolic screeds youd expect to hear from left-wing commentators, which would probably appear as a guest on MSNBC in their prime time lineup.
Their issue: In an interview, ODonnell had claimed she could be the potential target of political opponents and that she had to be extra careful when she would go home at night.
Theyre following me, she told The Weekly Standard. They follow me home at night. I make sure that I come back to the townhouse and then we have our team come out and check all the bushes and check all the cars to make sure thatthey follow me.
Now suddenly this has raised the ire of some conservative pundits suggesting that she isnt fit for office because of her caution. But actually, she does have cause for concern. According to a video from her campaign it has been documented that operatives from her opponents campaign, Rep. Mike Castle, have in fact attended events she hosted with video cameras. So how would you feel if you were being followed with a video camera?
That being said who are these detractors, as conservative males, to call into question the safety self-concerns of a 41-year-old female in what could be a highly charged political contest? Is it really the smartest thing to do to be so obsessed with the race for a Delaware Republican senatorial nomination that one would make these judgment calls about someones character, especially coming from the political right? Its a bizarre phenomenon to say the least.

No, you have not proven YOUR point. You have not proven a lie, nor that she is a lunatic.
And your point is so minor that it is irrelevant.
Stay in California. If you are representative of what a conservative is there, no wonder the Golden State is so screwed up.
At least we are trying to fix things here in DE.
Clearly, above, you call Christine a liar but not Castle. Thus, it appears you believe he's honest, she's not.
Castle continues to lie about Christine and her finances even after she publicly posts documents on her website proving his statements wrong. But that doesn't matter.
Nor apparently do his egregious votes, which hurt his constituients, many of which are as bad at that of many democrats. Christine's transgressions, however, petty by comparison, are to you, a far bigger deal.
In fact, the person who's no Castle fan, has gone hyperbolic and has the audacity to compare Christine O'Donnell's level of honesty to that of Obama and Clinton. : )
Now and most deservedly, you've lost ALL credibility. Good.
No, I'm suggesting that Castle has a legislative record that extends well beyond the last four months of the Bush administation. Rational voters will examine his whole record not just cherry pick distort the parts of it they don't like.
The fact is Castle votes with his party 88% of the time.
What about 2009 when Castle voted for Cap and Trade or 2010 when he voted for the Disclose Act?
I think his 2009 vote for cap and trade had to do with the more popular 'green jobs' portion of the bill. The administration is helping Fisker Auto locate a huge hybrid automotive manufacturing operation into the old Wilmington Assembly, bringing thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars to the state.
As it turns out the original Obama plan is a dead letter so its hard to see how you turn his vote into a mortal sin.
...and what exactly is your complaint about the Disclosure Act, (aside from O'Donnell's allergic reaction to anything with the word disclosure in it)?
Hind sight is always 20/20, and the vote in the Senate was 86-16 in favor. Guys with ACU scores in the 90s voted for that thing, and you want to lay the blame at one guys feet.
Yeah, I fought to keep those plants openthose were three thousand good paying jobs that will not returnand Castle,Carper, Kaufmann and Bidendidn;t do squat.
You got me there, I was working on the assumption that you wanted less government intervention, but it sounds like you wanted more. *shrugs*
And as far as Fisker, weyou and Ithe American taxpayerhave GIVEN him $ 500 million for his new tech foreign company, of which he used $ 18 million to buy the GM plantin order to build the $ 80,000 plus four door hybrid luxury sports car.
Fisker Automotive is a California company. That's not a foreign country..yet. I think you also misrepresent other aspects of the deal. However, you seem to be making my point that a congressman's job is to represent his constituents, not cater to the whims of the national talk show circuit.
Castle's vote on cap and trade could easily have been a quid pro quo for approval of the Fisker deal. It will be up to O'Donnell to disprove and explain what she'd do differently to bring that many good paying jobs into the state.
I didn’t lay the blame at one man’s feet for the bailouts, as you say. My post clearly said that those(plural) should be responsible for their vote.
That the Senate voted 86-16 is not germane to the point. Those knuckleheads of all stripes voted in a panic, then, as you will recall, they compounded their error by loading that bill with so much pork, the country almost ran out of bacon.
The House wasn’t as stupid by the same lopsided amount, but still stupid none the same.
And no that wasn’t hindsight—anyone with a functioning brain could see this was a panic driven boondoggle of the highest order. I called Mike Castle’s office many times at that time to tell him to vote no on the bailout. So, I knew then what has become evident now—that this was a waste of money.
As for the Government Motors plant, my point was that Castle could not even perform the most basic function of a Congressman—looking out for the interests of his district, which for him, is the entire state of Delaware. The Feds already owned GM, so “more government intervention” was a moot point at that point in time.
The point was, if the Feds already owned the plant, why compound the stupidity by firing 1800 workers?
Now, you are correct that Fisker is an American company, based in California. I was mistaken on that point—only because Fisker’s business model is to outsource almost everything rather than to manufacture a car on its own—which it has yet to do on American soil, other than prototypes.
It’s first 15,000 Karma cars will be made in Finland because they said no suitable American facilty was available. Well, you had a GM plant with trained workers ready to build a car, any car, here in DE.
So glad our tax money will help Fisker employ Finnish auto workers.
At Boxwood, they will manufacture a different mass produced model, the NINA hybrid. In 2014, that is.
So the plant can stay closed for about five years, the trained workforce is flipping hamburgers, our tax money employs Finnish auto plant workers, and Fisker buys the GM plant and equipment for pennies on the dollar, all with our own tax money.
Meanwhile, we borrow more money from China to pay the unemployment benefits for these workers, and your grandkids
will pay China back.
So, other than saying that Fisker is a foreign company(which is might as well be for the outsourcing overseas it is doing), what else did I misrepresent?
Castle’s vote on Cap and Trade will cost Delaware over 6,000 jobs, not bring in new high paying jobs. And, it will tank the American economy,as we experience energy rationing as well as healthcare rationing—another thing Castle refuse to support a repeal of.
But, heck, with his millions, he can afford the best healthcare money can buy.
According to the American Conservative Union, Castle has a rating of 28% for 2008, 56% for 2009 - that's 42% TOTAL for 2008 AND 2009 and a Life time rating in Congress for 17 years equaling 52.49%. Hardly cherry picking. We highlighted a few of his most egregious recent votes as prime examples of his Liberal, Socialist tendencies. The man has promised, btw, NOT to repeal Obamacare.
I am one of the founders of Independence Hall Tea Party PAC, which has a VERY reasonable record for endorsing candidates Independence Hall Tea Party PAC. Only one of the 14 endorsed candidates pictured on the front page of our website was not endorsed by us in the primary, Dee Adcock (who has very little chance of defeating (D) Allyson Schwartz).
Our Tea Party group is probably one of the most mainstream Tea Party Organizations in the entire country. One of the reasons we unanimously voted to endorse Christine, besides the fact that she is impressively articulate and a good conservative, is because Castle's voting record is absolutely abysmal. He's so LEFT he doesn't belong in the Republican Party.
