If they get control of Congress the GOP will try and mostly succeed in enlisting the Tea Party movement in confrontations with President Obama. Among other things, they will hold noisy hearings on red-meat hot-button issues, but will be extremely cautious and selective about holding actual accountability-generating roll call votes on them. Expect no roll call votes on systemic-change issues that challenge the political class itself (like repealing McCain-Feingold's restrictions on political speech, for example, or imposing term limits).
As in 1995, the budget will generate an unavoidable confrontation between a GOP Congress and the administration. We could see a Stalingrad-magnitude conflict, or perhaps GOP members will become puppydogs (and earmark hounds) who roll over to avoid the controversy. Either way, this could administer a huge Tea Party booster shot.
Gridlock will limit new spending programs, but also means no real change to policies already in place (i.e. Obamacare), which will cause tremendous Tea Party frustration and anger. They will try, but will Republicans succeed in channeling all of that against Democrats and Obama?
Republican members and caucuses inevitably will do some foolish, cynical and faithless things that will let President Obama make them the issue in 2012, just as President Clinton did in 1996.
Among other things, this creates the potential for a Perot-type third candidate in 2012 - and an Obama second term...

The tea party is not Republican .. It is American . I hope we hold their feet to the fire as much as the Dems..
Doubtful: the tea party will also hold republicans feet to the fire as well especially if they do nothing to lower taxes and create jobs and get the economy moving in the right direction again even if it means going around Obama to do it.

Then comes the War for the Soul of the Republican party.
Wrong. Congress, specifically the US House, hold the purse strings. Simply de-fund it all and dare 0 to veto the whole budget.
IF the GOP is bold they can kick 0 butt politically. They absolutely MUST not go back to their current crop of Democrat Lite leadership to achieve this end.

I, for one, will work with anyone and everyone who forms a “conservative brain trust” like the Heritage Foundation, Hoover Institution, Hudson Institute, Cato Institute which works to develop legislative proposals that achieve the goals we seek.
Also, we need to develop a plan of action for neutralizing the fabian socialists running our bureaucracy. We must learn from our mistakes during Reagan and 1994-1995. Don’t overplay our positions.
Then try looking for it.
Also , if you take into account that politicians generally “want to do something” and doing something usually means more legislation , more government , and more taxes you can see that the Republican party is very good.
But no, many believe the liberal media spin that concentrates on the 15% Republicans who are liberal and for bigger government.
Democrats/socialists created almost all of the thousands of government agencies.Anything that opposes these communists/socialists has to be supported.
No, because too many ‘Republicans’ currently in office are just a shade south of being frickin Democrats. If we win, we will be relentless in weeding out these posers and vanquish them to the shit pile of losers.... Seeing what Obama has done in this short time has recalibrated our ‘tolerance’ very, very significantly. He will have set progressivism back a thousand years, in my book.

Like the dog who chases the car, I don’t think the current GOP leadership has any idea what to do when they catch it. In recent interviews both Boehner and McConnell have been asked point blank if they would try and repeal Obamacare and both have refused to commit to it. Given that every GOP political ad I’ve seen has opposition to Obama’s healtcare as their centerpoint then it sure sounds like people are being set up for a big let-down.
Short answer - no, the Tea Party won't fade if Republicans win it all.
We're not going to reset the country back to its Founding Principles and core American values in one election cycle.
It's going to take a sustained campaign of insurgent political activism to root all of the Socialists and RINOs out of the system. Until we do, they'll be doing everything in their power to continue doing business as usual, which will keep the blood pressure elevated among the voters.
If the pubs win big this is what they should do:
1. Across the board tax cuts to stimulate business and consumer spending as well as to add to the tax revenues to the government
2, Repeal Obamacare and then replace it with their conservative own medical and healthcare ideas
3. Pass the stalled trade legislation currently before Congress
4. Drill baby drill; push for more building of oil refineries and oil drilling everywhere both onshore and offshore: let individual states decide
5. Lease the building of nuclear power plants and generators akk across the country
6. Undertake multiple investigations of the Sestak matter, the New Black Panthers, ACORN, the Blago affair, etc. and if any of these implicate collusion by the WH, then institute impeachment hearings.
7. Push for troop surge for Afghanistan
8. Secure the border by sending troops to the southern border and take other illegal immigration measures as necessary
9. Reinstitute the Medicare Advantage program for seniors
10. Make English the official language of the US
I remember when Reagan was going to get rid of the Department of Education.
Still waiting.
Sure there are some decent conservatives. But the party lacks a firm foundation of REAL conservatism.
I have been disgusted since 2006.
I have not seen any real leadership since.
The Tea Party started UNDER the Republicans (GWB). The Left keeps trying to re-write history.
