DeMINT TEA

From the day he came to Washington, originally as a Congressman, Republican South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint has never been a party lemming. But this summer, leading up to the 2010 mid-term elections, he’s taking it to another level by endorsing Tea Party favorites in primary elections against GOP-establishment candidates.

And, much to the chagrin of his own party, DeMint’s choices have gone six for eight.

Interestingly, the character traits guiding Jim DeMint—and rankling rank-and-file Republicans—on these endorsements are the same traits that resonate with such powerful organizations as the Gun Owners of America (GOA).

In fact, Erich Pratt is the GOA’s communications director, recently submitted an op-ed piece encouraging gun owners to include DeMint on their short list of 2012 Presidential candidates.

“Of this you can be sure,” says the op-ed, written by GOA vice chairman, Tim Macy, “Jim DeMint does NOT walk on water . . . there’s no doubt he has his flaws, as do all of us. But his actions point to someone who is not involved in politics to promote Jim DeMint. He’s doing it to protect America and our future as the greatest nation in history.”

I like DeMint, but he backed Lindsay Graham’s reelection, and stayed neutral in McCain’s. But that’s still one better than McPalin.

As a South Carolinian I am very proud of Mr. Demint. He seems to be that oh, so rare character, a real statesman. I expect to see him attacked in ever more shameful ways by those on the left.

I like DeMint, as well. The only person he wrote and asked support for this term that I didn’t give to was Rand Paul. I don’t know much about Mr. Paul, but I don’t like his father’s politics...talk about the party of “No!”. He refuses to ban partial birth abortions, etc. He votes No to everything, it seems. So, what is the purpose of serving? There should be some things that one does support.

DeMint would make a great president.

I hope he runs.
