The embarrassing flap occurred Friday night, when Det. Martin Brown, who is assigned to the Police Commissioner’s Liaison Unit, showed up at Mosque No. 7, at 106 West 127th Street after (phony, no doubt) allegations that local youths were roughed up by cops from the 32nd Precinct, sources said. When Brown showed up at the mosque — the scene of a horrific 1972 cop killing— the official who had invited him, Abdul Kareem Muhammad, the head of the Harlem Clergy and Community Leaders Coalition, did not let him enter because of his gun and shield, sources said.
Those items are barred under the mosque’s rules of worship – and the news touched off a few minutes of awkwardness as Brown patiently waited outside the mosque. The mosque’s imam, Abdul Hafeez Muhammad, then greeted Brown and apologized, but reiterated the fact that he would not be allowed inside to attend the meeting, where other community leaders were in attendance, because of his gun and shield.
“He refused to comply with the demand. He wasn’t going to relinquish his weapon,” an NYPD spokeswoman said.
One police source insisted it was a slap, however inadvertent, to the Police Commissioner’s authority, particularly since the detective had showed up in act of conciliation and outreach to the Harlem community.
If he was carrying a Koran and an AK with an “Allahu Akbar” decal, he would have been welcomed with open arms.

I always scoffed at the idea that the NYPD would ever accept such a concept here.
I'm not saying they have, based on this incident. But they should be careful even acting like the idea is open to debate.
Where does the mosque get off telling NYPD they CAN”T enter in response to a complaint??? Can I do that in my home?? This is way past the point of going to far with these people.
The interesting moment will be when there is an emergency call at a mosque and the NYPD is told they must remove their guns and badges before entering.
That's when the ass-kicking starts, I'm guessing.

Yet one more reason why they Ground Zero mosque should not be allowed to happen. WE have to accomodate them, WE are thereby transformed, in a million different ways, into a Sharia-compliant society. WE become handmaidens to our own destruction by giving these ANTI-democratic populations a position of strength WITHIN our society. EVENTUALLY we find ourselves with growing populations inside our borders, living by their OWN rules and not OURS. This is an attempt to create an Islamic America within America. The ultimate goal is to create a wholly Islamic America, where THEY are the majority, and we no longer recognize ourselves as the tolerant society welcoming of everyone’s religious freedom. For those too young to know, lived in the suburbs, etc-the disgraceful “look the other way” capitulation of liberal city, state, and federal officals to the rampant black crime, corruption, fraud and other dysfunctions and pathologies in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s-and continuing somewhat to the present day, is a disgraceful chapter in American history that may never be written-but you see the results-the ruination of once great cities by violent, ignorant vermin and their enablers in the gov’t and media.

So if a crime is being committed in this mosque, would the police have to refrain from entering in order to show deference to the religious sensitivity of the mosque and its members? If that is the case; the criminals in the area can house drugs and weapons there as well as run a criminal enterprise out of a mosque without fear of the police raiding the place.
