On July 15, 2010, Democrat Charles Rangle introduced a piece of legislation into Congress that would basically reinstate the draft (compulsory military service). H.R. 5741 will give the President of the United States the power to require all American citizens between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform either military service or civilian service in the interests of "national defense and homeland security." It would also give him the power to require citizens to join the military during wartime to meet the manpower needs of the military.
In February 2009, President Barack Obama asked Congress to send him a bipartisan bill in favor of "national service." Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel outline a plan similar to H.R. 5741 in his book The Plan.
Under this new legislation, nearly every American will be forced into two years of military or security service. Even conscientious objectors will be unable to avoid this new draft. Instead, they would have to choose noncombatant or civilian service, which will be defined by the President.

If Obama does, the hippies will scream for his impeachment.
Then draft away!
No, Rangel will introduce a bill which if passed would bring back the draft. He's done this a number of times in past sessions, and the bill goes nowhere. This one will do the same.
LOL the same hippies and limousine liberals who put him in office.
lol
man this just keeps getting better and better, I have never seen a polical party so focused on losing power.
Not going to happen. ...unless the Dems want to lose every election between between now and doomsday.
draft who
like to see all the hip hops under obama
Idiots didn’t realize that THEY and theirs would end up getting sent to the front.
Even the Democrats aren’t that stupid. If they do institute a draft, it’ll be for Mr. Obama’s Civilian National Security Force.
A precursor to the start of Obambie’s civilian storm troopers,
kind of like The Red Guard?
Rangel has been trying to bring back the draft for a long time. Here’s his try in 2003.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Rep. Charles Rangel introduced a bill in Congress Tuesday to reinstate the military draft, saying fighting forces should more closely reflect the economic makeup of the nation.

If I ever Lock & Load again, it will NOT be under the command of that Commie Tripe.
Some of us are quiet peaceful citizens who are armed and know how to use them. From my cold dead hands, FUBO.
They would never make it to the front ... bullet in the back for immediate discharge
I am still wondering what they would actually do with 8 million people (4 million births per year x 2 years required “service”).
I’ll bet the moron hasn’t thought that through yet.
RANGEL has been talking about a DRAFT for YEARS... “Them RICH WHITE BOYS going FIRST”
If I ever Lock & Load again, it will NOT be under the command of that Commie Tripe.
Same here.
FUBO!!
Agreed. Rangel has been pulling this same stunt almost since 2003 or so. What was really shameful was that during Bush's presidency, Rangel kept insisting with a straight face that only the poor & minorities were dying on the front lines in Iraq because the U.S. economy was so bad they had no choice but to join the military.
I seriously think that the Democratic symbol should now be a 99-cent Store Economy Tool Set. What a bunch of Useless Tools...
Of course, none of this matters, as "the first black president wants to reinstate slavery." (This is not my quote, I just heard it somewhere and am repeating it).
I would also imagine that our military isn't interested in reinstating the draft, as the only people they would get would be the same ones they got during the last draft, that is, all the people who were not rich enough, well-connected enough, or daft enough to escape the draft. Sad to say, these are not the kinds of people that we want to be motivating to do something they don't want to do.
Considering all the bums... and all the poverty pimps that collect bums for power... not a terrible idea.
