Gibbs Walks Out When Asked About Obama's Connecticut Social Security Number - VIDEO
ECR ^ | 19 Jul 10 | EC

Robert Gibbs, Obama's White House spokesman, had an interesting reaction today when he was asked point-blank about Obama's alleged use of a Connecticut social security number. We've got a clip of that, and right below that is a clip that explains the allegation (in somewhat dramatic fashion) - it's interesting that the identity theft allegations that sounded so outlandish to me when Dr. Orly and I first discussed them last year, are now being supported by people like Jerome Corsi of WorldNetDaily.

Hmmmm, I guess we should not post links to any news sites then, lest we be pimpimg, well, news sites?

It's okay to post links, but unless the news site is on the FR copyright/excerpt list, it's preferable to post the entire article. There is no benefit to FR with excerpted blogs or needlessly excerpted articles from news sites.

I know none of your posts addressed me, but since they are in open forum, I'd like to comment. First let me apologize if I left any concerned parties off the ping. I really didn't feel like combing the whole thread to see everyone who posted.

I am speaking as a contributing member of this forum. I contribute on various threads, many of which tend to be off-beat and some which are rather esoteric (in the Religion Forum.)

I also contribute to FR financially. I have never asked (and I never will ask) another FReeper if or how much they put in the kitty. I keep my own contributions anonymous and what anybody else gives is between them, JimRob and God. I say this only to point out that there is more than one way to contribute to FR’s success - and to remind everyone that there's a FReepathon still going on.

There is a third way in which I try to contribute to FR. That is by spreading the word by word-of-mouth. I work in public contact quite a bit and have the opportunity to tell people about this website and how great I think it is. I even ran off some little cards with my screen name and the web address to hand out to interested parties.

Now - What does all this have to do with Blog Pimping?

First, I am not opposed to bloggers and the work they do. in fact I find it quite valuable in many instances. But there are abuses of the FR/Blogger relationship that I find quite annoying.

Like many FReepers, I keep my preferences set on “everything.” As I said before, my tastes in conversation are varied and unusual. If one scans the forum on “everything” it becomes apparent that at some times of the day, the blogs outnumber the actual news stories and commentary. I imagine this is why on more than one occasion, I have had people I referred to FR come back to me and say something to the effect “I checked out that site you gave me and all I found was a bunch of blogs.”

If these blogs were posting original, full commentaries for the purposes of discussion and information, then I doubt that there would be this kind of negative feedback. Too often, however, the blogs post only teasers, needlessly excerpting their own material, which (according to what I have read on this thread) the bloggers supposedly post only to inform and educate.

If this is the case, then simply post the whole thing here. FR’s format is clean, easily readable and virus and adware free. If video is involved, post a direct link to the video.

Obviously, if the video is your own original work, then by all means, link to your blog to view it. Too often, however, the videos are taken from YouTube, embedded on the blog and posted on FR with minimal (if any) commentary. That is just plain pimping for hits, and it's sleazy.

Why is it sleazy? Because (back to the money thing) those of us who contribute our hard earned cash (whatever that amount may be) to keep FR running do not do it just to provide an unoriginal opportunist with a platform for purloined content.

In summary, if you're a blogger and you've got something to say, by all means say it. Right here, right out in the open, for all of us to see. If you are a good writer, with an interesting point of view and a passion for your work, then people will go to your blog to see what else you might have written. The hits will take care of themselves.

If, however, you are an unoriginal hack, who is just reposting yesterday's news and other people's work, adding no content or value of your own, and think it's a cool and easy way to get hits by piggybacking on FR’s success, then you are, in my opinion, nothing more than a circus geek at a fine dinner party.

It's not my place to tell anyone who should stay or who should go, but it's easily within my purview to point a finger at the geek and let the rest of the world know that he's not with us.

I'm glad you brought that up....when I post articles from various sites, I don't know who or what is prohibited...hard to keep track and what's what so I always excerpt, just to be safe.

I don't mean any offense or violation of the rules, just playing it safe.

Plus, sometimes there are pics and advertising in the page, if there is a way to eliminate those elements, I'd like to know how.

Am off for dinner~~

FR now has an Auto-Excerpt program. If you try to post from a restricted source, it will stop you and offer to automatically excerpt your post for you.

I know this because it happened to me twice in the last two weeks.

Nobody can possibly care so much about “blogpimping” that they lie in wait 24/7 hoping to catch one.

Humblegunner is a leftist whose agenda is to harm conservative bloggers and conservatism in any way he can.

I have this FR page bookmarked and scan it (browser word search) each time before posting:

Updated FR Excerpt and Link Only or Deny Posting List due to Copyright Complaints

As far as the advertisements and pics, I just copy/paste the text in multiple chunks. If the pictures are relevant, I'll copy and paste them separately.

And with that, you just earned the "Funniest Post of the Day" - hands down.

Who was that reporter/

You have to understand that Breitbart is doing some outstanding investigative work.He discovered a list of about 400 news editors nation wide who conspire online through chat conferences to supress negative news about Obama.

This list is alled the “Journolist”. It is run allegedly by Ezra Klein, Jospeh Goebbels lite, out of California.Soe of these reporters beloing to the Journolist. They are all prepared to walk out when this sort of question is asked. Its all pre-arranged and staged.

Breitbart has a standing offer of $100,000, with guarantied secrecy of source, to anyone who gives him list of news people on the “Journolist”

Allegedly the List is "no more" but who knows.

He admitted a long time ago that the fake Certification of Live Birth, shown on the net was his doing.

Gibbs: “"If I had some DNA it wouldn't assuage those who don’t believe he was born here," Gibbs said, talking about how he posted the president's birth certificate on-line last year to make the story go away, to no avail.

Why does it keep coming up? Gibbs was asked.

"Because for $15 you can get an internet address and say whatever you want," Gibbs said.”

Frankly, the SSN issue interests me much more than the birth certificate. You or I would be in deep kimshi if we sported more than one SSN, so the president should explain himself. But I won't be holding my breath.

"And the reason Obummer doesn’t have a legitimate SSAN is because I imagine you have to show a legitimate birth certificate to get one!"

Makes sense to me. I had to supply birth certificates in order to obtain SS numbers for our sons.

This clip actually happened approx 3-4 weeks ago.

I’m not sure why the “Evil Conservative” site has it dated July 19, 2010 (yesterday).

I should have read further through the thread to find out the reporter who left is ABC’s WH Correspondant Jake Tapper. Still, anyone know what sent him scurrying out of the conference? Any reporter worth his salt would stay until the end just in case there was something interesting to report. But he’ll never know because he left.
