Like the protagonists of "Casablanca" we live in a fascist occupied country...Do we run away, or do we fight? At the end of the movie the answer was stand and fight.

Isn’t that movie a work of fiction, produced by Hollywood?

A production of Old Patriotic Hollywood, yes.

Lady Augusta Bracknell:
... To be born, or at any rate bred, in a hand-bag, whether it had handles or not, seems to me to display a contempt for the ordinary decencies of family life that reminds one of the worst excesses of the French Revolution. And I presume you know what that unfortunate movement led to? ...

Yes...The Reign of Terror...Clearly, the Jacobins went a little too far in revolutionary zeal...

On the other hand, they did pretty much rid in country of the elite aristocratic scum who had reduced formerly wealthy France to poverty.

Maybe there is a lesson in this history for contemporary USA?

Yes, fine workers of fiction that produced happy endings.

Idealistic?
HELL YEAH!!!!!

It was the so-called FF who first held the Ideal so dear, and then they acted upon that Ideal—real Americans still do—”others”....are easily persuaded/influenced by whatever their particular brand/mentality of bs that comes along....

Semper Truth!

Many lessons.

We are blessed in the orderliness and temperance of our Revolution.

Tell that to the thousands of Tories we ran out of the country to Canada after seizing their property during and after the American Revolution.

And those were the lucky ones - The unlucky Tories were lynched, burned to death in their homes, imprisoned, or at best tarred, feathered and ran out of town naked on a rail even in the middle of winter.

A revolution/civil war is not a Sunday concert in the park. If Obama is successful in starting a civil war, he will have opened the gates of hell.

Yeah, the marxist devils love turmoil--the escapees/refugees from the European Marxist Revolt of 1848 provided us in America with the first big cadre of Marxists at that time--lincoln's bid for election, the War For Southern Independence, was their first successes, and Chicago town became their headquarters and schoolhouse of influence....

Strange that so many who even oppose him/it do provide him (falsely)the unfounded honor of the title.

The Post & Email, though, is the first (and only) to my knowledge who both makes it their official practice, and also makes a statement to that effect on their website for all to see. Good setting the example, good leadership, call it whatever....

Some writers do, however, to their credit, regularly use the term usurper, aka, and others.

Extend and revise?

Comparatively speaking. Among revolutions mild-mannered (or whatever I said.)

(My mother was a Limey. I grew up with tales of how awful we were.)

Huh? I guess you never heard of Lord Cornwallis’s campaign of terror through South Carolina or Sir Banastre Tarleton, whoes very name was associated with butchery.

Of course, these two butchers were no different than Sherman and Grant.

As for another “civil war”, I was born a free man and I will die as one. My knee bends to none other than He who created me.

My point exactly - the American Revolution was also a civil war - Patriots vs. Tories. It was not pretty with injustice done on both sides. When the war ended, the Tories either went to England or Canada. Winner takes it all, the loser takes the fall.
