At 10 percent, the tax on indoor tanning is already putting a business, paperwork, and employment burden on mom and pop tanning salons, where business owners have been forced to jack up prices. Imagine the uproar if a tax had been imposed on Jheri Curl?
If tanning salons and nail salons disappeared, you could shut down half of the strip malls with them. This should do wonders for commercial real estate.
So if I were a tanning business, I would include on the form an line for “Obama Health Care tax”.
