Obama's Bailout of SEIU.

You can just read what I've said here or you can go to my vlog:

In a recent memo, Obama has urged Democrats in Congress, members of his own party, to support $50 billion in new emergency aid for State Public Workers. Obama is claiming rhetorically that the money is needed to save the jobs of policeman, firefighters and teachers. In reality, though, this is nothing more than another round of freebies for overpaid government bureaucrats. The jobs of teachers, firefighters and policemen aren't in jeopardy and weren't ever in jeopardy. We had a round of this with Stimulus and the Bank Bailouts. The same claim was made then and the Stimulus money was, in fact, funneled to the members of government employee unions. A new fiscal year is coming up and the money has run out, though. Obama's plea for this so-called emergency spending is nothing but more of the same. We are running record deficits to support a bloated government whose employees exchange their votes for wages and perks they would otherwise not receive in the private sector in a crippled economy, no less, and the result is record deficits. This is nothing more than another bailout for SEIU.

Democrats right now are a little gun-shy in approving any more spending because an anti-incumbent wave of voter anger is sweeping the country. People are understandably upset because here they are, many of them hurting, many of them having lost their jobs, or having their wages frozen or forced to take lower-paying work and still they are being expected to support government workers at a level that they themselves didn't enjoy when they had actual good employment in the private sector. They also don't like the idea of subsidizing state workers in states with poor fiscal responsibility, like California. Why should someone in Texas support wasteful government bureaucracy in California? It's madness and these irresponsible state governments should get their fiscal houses in order. Bailing them out is only an absolution of accountability. Lawmakers in states like California will never be held accountable to their own voters for their own actions if we continue doing this.

It's become apparent to me what the greatest problem in our nation is. It is Public Sector Unions. These unions use not only their collective bargaining power, but their votes in American elections to keep the gravy train running. This is a huge advantage that these unions have over private-sector unions. Democrats, over time, have become more beholden to the electoral power of these unions, and as a result, they've capitulated and are even encouraging this behavior in order to stay in power. Andy Stern, president of Service Employees International Union has visited the White House more than anyone. What these unions are doing is nothing more than political extortion with our tax dollars and the future tax dollars of our children and their children as the ransom. This is why public sector unions must be abolished. They serve no legitimate purpose and only act as parasites that are only going to eventually kill the host.

You know I see quite a few liberals talk about fairness. They talk about making things more fair for everybody. They speak of Social Justice, living wages and other invective. They almost never seek to do what a humanist should do, and that is to seek to maintain a level playing field for everyone. Instead, they seek to make the outcome the same for everyone, regardless. They tend to ignore economic and fiscal arguments and default to base emotional pleas. They claim to promote altruism, but in their efforts, they often create injustice and inequality. Sometimes unintentionally, but much of the time they do this with a certain sense malice. It is seeking revenge for whatever greivances, real or perceived that they have. In their efforts at pretending to care about the welfare of others, they most often succeed in causing more harm than they set out to cure. That is what left-wing legislation like Obamacare does, it creates more problems and doesn't resolve the underlying issues. That is what this emergency spending will do if it's passed.

What's fair, though? Is it fair that public sector unions make at least 40 percent more than the private sector and enjoy perks that allow early retirement with fat pensions on the backs of people that actually produce something of value in this economy? Aside from the subjective definition of fairness, which would vary from person to person, there is concrete evidence screaming us in the face that this continuing madness is unsustainable. Look at Greece, Look at Spain and Portugal, look at Ireland and Hungary. If we don't stop the spending and continue to remain hostage to the bureaucracy class, we are headed down the path of self-destruction and that wouldn't be fair to anyone. What's in store for us is already spelled out in the tea-leaves.

We should thank Obozo for this idiotic move - now we just have to make sure we trumpet it over and over again, identifying it for what it is. Great timing also with the mid-terms now only 4 1/2 months off. Obozo is nothing if not a politically tone deaf ignoramus.

If Congress can’t come up with public sector union bailouts, you can be sure more incumbent Democrats like Blanche Lincoln are going to be targeted from the left. Unions threw $10 million down the toilet opposing Lincoln-unsuccessfully. Wouldn’t it be great to have that repeated in other states, leaving them less money to go after Republicans in the general election?

But if Democrats in Congress approve the money, it will ignite the firestorm of voter anger that arose during the first round of bailouts.

Let’s see Harry Reid, in his precarious re-election position, lead the push for union bailouts.
