Anyone else use a pressure cooker? (vanity)

I'm a single guy that does almost all my own cooking. Mostly beans, soups, and chicken.

These pressure cookers, (at sea level) speed up the cooking times dramatically!. Also, for reheating leftovers, its great!

Last night, I found a store bought rotisserie chicken that was half eaten and 6 days old in the frig, most would throw it out. Not me! Pop it in the pressure cooker, add a little water, can of Mushroom soup, bring up to pressure (15psi) for 5 mins, damn it was good!

LOL That reminds me of someone here on Freerepublic commenting that if things get really bad we will be giving canned food as Christmas gifts.

I don’t think we ever actually used it. I was really big...

I used my mom's up until a few years ago. I bought a new one that is quite a bit beefier than my mom's old one. It has six screw down latches and a metal on metal seal, so no replacing the rubber gasket every few years. I started getting concerned about the old one because the overpressure blow off cap was pretty corroded. If the pressure regulator ever failed I'm not sure the blow off cap would work as intended and I can't get parts for the old one anymore beyond handles and seals. So, it was time for a new one. The new one is awesome and it's American made! I got the pressure cooker from the same place.

Try putting ribs in the pressure cooker, low heat until it starts to sizzle just a bit. Cook at the low simmer for 5 minutes, turn the heat off and let it go down by itself. Finish off on the grill, and you’ll have some good eatin’ bro!

I spent the better part of 3 years working in Cajun country. I love the food and the people down there, but dang, it’s hot! Never sweated so much anywhere in my travels as I did working in Louisiana!

How do you field-dress an armadillo? (Please, no jokes about avoiding horizontal stripes—I’m serious.)

I don't think I will ever understand the coniptions made over KK -- chewy hunks of greasy sweet, blech.

I envy you your grammar -- mine was from Ireland, she didn't know anything about flavor. Sunday dinner at her house meant boiled beef, boiled cabbage, boiled potatoes, no butter OR salt on the table!! And dessert was this apple cake thingy, sliced apples in a flour/soda/could you maybe spare some sugar? base, a hint of cinnamon in it somewhere.

My Grandad was Irish, but thankfully Great Gramma was German,

She could make a mean cherry pie and understood baking very well.

There are NO Irish family recipes LoL

I think it’s the end-products (toxins) of the dead bacteria that you worry about.
