President Obama: Gourmet food at home, junk food on the road

When it comes to food, President Obama is like any other guy -- upscale with the missus, comfort fast food when he's traveling solo.

On Thursday, POTUS made an unscheduled stop by Duff's Famous Wings near Buffalo for the local delicacy. "This is the wing capital!" he explained to reporters. The president opted for medium wings ("Hot"), then -- at the urging of the crowd -- added a few extra spicy ones, plus french fries and onion rings to his order.

Here in D.C., Obama takes the first lady to upscale restaurants (Komi last week, Nora's, Citronelle, Equinox, Blue Duck Tavern) for date nights, but likes local joints (Five Guys, Ray's Hell-Burger, Ben's Chili Bowl) for the occasional lunch with the guys. How does this square with the first lady's veggie garden and healthy food initiative? Well, at least the crowd in Buffalo loved it.(continued)

I feel so much better knowing they get to go to the local ritzy hot spots for their date nights. Will clear that image from my mind when I’m in the store with my calculator figuring out the best buys to feed my kids...

Yeah, when I’m buying bulk potatoes, 3/$1 macaroni & cheese and the lowest grade of ground beef, at least I’ll know that Dear Leader & Michelle are eating like a king! We treat ourselves to the $6 buffet at one of the casinos about every other month.

This is no surprise. When Michelle takes the girls to lunch - it's usually junk food. She likes to tell others what to eat - but her family pigs it up whenever they get the chance.

The date night crap is for effect. They like the snob appeal that they think it gives them. It makes them feel good to shut down an entire street & infringe on regular citizens so that they can strut their stuff.

I think it's a rather 'in your face' jab at the rest of us.

Real man of the people. I'm lucky to hit Micky D's once a month as a splurge. This is the overall out of touch Washington mindset with the politicians and reporters alike. No wonder all these ass hats thing we are in a strong recovery.

As much as I despise Obama, I have absolutely no problem with the fact he obviously enjoys his food. In fact I like to see people enjoying their food. And I can’t say he looks like more of glutton when he’s chomping away than any other president.
