Can we start with Congress’ budget to run their offices? Good Lord Almighty, the amount of money spent staffing Congressional offices is appalling.

Just roll back to the budget of 2005, and cap annual increases to inflation + population growth. We’d have a small surplus this year and every year thereafter, meaning we could pay down the national debt.

In 2005, I don’t remember dying in the streets because of a lack of Federal Government spending, I don’t remember the world collapsing because DC didn’t have enough to spend. Seems that would be a good start, and incredibly easy to do as well.

Pretty dicey proposition, IMO, Eric buddy. You
are flirting with problems down the road. In
adopting a ‘governance via cyberspace’ tactic
you are giving the Dems, the REAL kings of
demagoguery, a tool which will be used to the
nation’s disadvantage. And, all they have to do
is point the finger at the GOP for initiating
this idea.

On my cutting list:

Student loans (If you major in something practical, banks will lend you money. Or better yet, work your way through school.)

While we are it, cut the rest of the Department of Education.

Farm subsidies (Free markets work)

The entire Department of Housing and Urban Development (slum builders)

Cut Federal salaries five percent, as a start.

Lay off the least productive 10 percent of Federal workers.

Raise the Social Security Medicare age to 72, as a start.

Change Medicare to cover catastrophic expenses only. Most seniors can afford their own doctor’s visits.

If a veteran has a medical issue that is not combat-related, pay for the veteran to go to a regular hospital. Most Veteran’s hospitals aren’t needed.

Eliminate all pork-barrel spending.

Privatize as much of the highway system as possible.

Eliminate PBS and the NEA.

Privatize the postal system.

Evaluate areas of defense spending where we aren’t getting much bang for the buck. Carriers aren’t helping much in the war on terror, for example, and would be sitting ducks against an opponent who had a Navy and cruise missiles.

That should get us started.

Good point - especially since they’re angling for net neutrality.

A bit scary.

We’re not a “Democracy,” we’re a “Republic.” Democracies can descend into mob rule ...

Which, thankfully, via a judge’s common sense ruling, has slowed dowm greatly.

“Don’t you think the demogoge stuff is getting
a bit ‘old’?”

Yep. But it doesn’t matter what I think. Look at
what the D-Rats are doing with the new Arizona
illegal “immigration” law. They will turn Canter’s
effort on the GOP and get MSM traction.

Now, perhaps it is time for the conservative
political class to stand up to the MSM and call
them out for what they are. Conservative office
holders will have to stick their necks out and
we conservatives will need to back them up. Un-
til that happens we all need to realize that the
RATS have a leg up when it comes to controlling
the messages.

Thanks!

Great post.

I see the “why doesn’t the GOP stand up to and resist Obama?” brigade is against standing up to and resisting Obama.
