Shuns challenger who promised "pro-family" judges. Conservatives sell out in droves.
The Massachusetts Republican Party has nominated the most extreme pro-homosexual, anti-family candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor ever to run as Republicans for a state's top offices. Predictably, the results were greeted by cheers in homosexual blogs and websites across the country. The delegates to the Massachusetts State Republican Convention last Saturday overwhelmingly nominated Charlie Baker for Governor and his hand-picked running mate Richard Tisei for Lt. Governor.
As some observers put it, the RINO takeover of the Massachusetts Republican party is now complete. Vast numbers of social conservatives essentially sold out their principles in favor of the party establishment's wishes.
Charlie Baker publicly supports homosexual "marriage" and abortion. While CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care the company had a policy of supporting "gender identity or expression." In 2008 Harvard Pilgrim scored a perfect 100% from the national homosexual group Human Rights Campaign for its employment policies. (This means it even paid for employees' "sex-change" procedures!)
Baker's fiscal history is also troubling. He was Gov. Bill Weld's budget chief during the expansion of the "Big Dig" -- the most expensive public works project in history -- in the 1990s. For the last ten years Baker has made millions as head of Harvard Pilgrim, as premiums went up by several times the rate of inflation. Baker also supports the Quinn Bill, seen as a fiscal boondoggle by many conservatives.
Richard Tisei, a state senator and Baker's hand-picked running mate, is probably the most left-wing Republican officeholder in history. He is openly homosexual and is a co-sponsor of the radical "Transgender Rights and Hate Crimes" bill (H1728) currently in the Legislature. He strongly supports same-sex "marriage" and voted NOT to let the people vote on it. He appears in a hideous pro-homosexual "marriage" propaganda video produced by the homosexual lobby (complete with phony statistics). He has a 100% rating by NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and a 100% rating by Planned Parenthood. He co-sponsored the expanded buffer zone bill. He also co-sponsored the "emergency contraception bill" that was vetoed by Gov. Mitt Romney. On the fiscal side, Tisei has voted against bills to reduce taxes earning him the wrath of Citizens for Limited Taxation.
Excellent strategy! Elect Democrats, just like in NY-23!
A little still-good advice from the Father of our Country:
"Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God."-- George Washington
Conservatives need to stop acting like political bookies, start acting like God actually exists and can move on our behalf, and start doing the right thing no matter what. That's the only way back for this republic.
As another very wise man said at the Constitutional Convention:
"The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: 'that God governs in the affairs of men.' And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"-- Benjamin Franklin
The GOP doesn't fare to well in that comparison.
Here's an interesting question: Has the American Independence Party (which is the pissant little third party that EternalVigilance is always shilling for, since he has a financial interest in it) ever actually managed to get somebody elected?
If not, then how do we really know that AI elected officials will never compromise on these core moral principles that EV is always going on about?
How do we really know that EV isn't just blowing smoke out his stack? How do we know what AI elected officials will do should they ever be in a position where they have make difficult choices? Talk is cheap, action not so much so.
That is a load of crap being pushed by the RINOs.
Scott Brown was portrayed inaccurately by Martha Coakley and her supporters as a pro-life conservative.
Scott Brown was portrayed inaccurately by the media as a pro-life conservative.
Scott Brown was portrayed inaccurately by his supporters as a pro-life conservative.
And despite the totally inaccurate portrayal as a pro-life conservative Scott Brown won in Massachusetts by almost five points. And that means that a genuine pro-life conservative could have won.
I no longer count the RNC — they deserve zero, zip, nada contributions until they can put someone in charge that runs a lean, mean organization.
Ditto the NRSC with Cornyn. We need to get back to all politics is local for non-Presidential elections and quit relying on some DC organization that most times don’t have a clue about our States, e.g. Rubio in Florida and NRSC Cornyn endorses Crist against the wishes of a lot of Senators.
Only donate to candidates now — not donating to PACs either when a former candidate’s PAC can bring in over a million, donate $9,000 and have expenses in the hundreds of thousands. No wasting my money.
That is a good question.. The AIP will go down in flames as another third party that failed..
Too bad Mass. doesn’t have a Conservative party like NY does. If you don’t like the GOP candidate, you can always vote the Conservative candidate in NY.
It’s America’s Independent Party, and your Alinskyite tactics aren’t going to work.
Do you support the GOP nominations of radical leftwingers like the Massachusetts GOP has just done?
It would appear that you do, since you’re here “shilling” for them by laying down protective fire on their behalf.
Is there any principle that is non-negotiable to you or to your political party?
I think some people want to lose on purpose so they can be professional complainers..
That's been my counsel for some time. I think more and more people are getting it.
What is your suggestion? Roll over and play dead? Might as well give them a fight.
We had a RINO in McLaime and lost to a frickin Marxist...now that was a great strategy...
You didn’t answer his question. Did the AIP ever win any election?
We have a new party going there: America's Party of Massachusetts. Some really great folks. But it's been difficult. The habit of compromise has been deeply ingrained in way too many folks who call themselves conservative. But we'll keep trying.
RINO my a**-they’re a couple of DIABLOs.
Of course it will. Pretty much all third parties exist as mere ego trips for their founders and a close inner circle of top-level supporters - and in this statement I am including the Constitution and Libertarian Parties too. They exist so that a small number of purists can pat themselves on the back about how pure they are, while collecting donations from the dupes they manage to make.
Meanwhile, the actual work of purifying a major party is left by the wayside.
This brings to me to one of primary criticisms of third parties, which is that they exist to facilitate the lazy and cowardly. It's always easier to take your ball and go home instead of staying in the game and trying to win, even though your team looks like it's temporarily down. Third parties exist because, for many conservatives, doing the heavy lifting of getting the GOP back where it ought to be, one voter and one precinct at a time, is simply more than a lot of folks want to try to bite off.
I'll have to vote for the treasurer as the least of three evils.
It’s REALLY too bad.
Deval Patrick is an obama mini-me and incompetent to boot. The Republicans have a good chance to unseat him, and to elect at least a couple of Republican Congresscritters, as well as some number of Republican state legislators and perhaps a state attorney general.
Super-RINOs who support the “gay” agenda (among other things) give the voters no choice, so they just might stick with the Deval they know!!!!
I have a feeling the AIP candidate is going to lose.. Like all of the Candidates the AIP supported... Just answer the question... Has the AIP ever won an election??
How do we know that the first American Independetalist Party member who manages to get elected isn’t going to turn into some rabid fag-marriage supporter?
Short answer is: We don’t.
And trying to slander me isn’t going to change that simple fact.
