Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman says that the recently enacted healthcare legislation will end up saving the US government money in the long run.
Right now, a huge proportion of the nations health spending goes to prolonging the lives of the terminally ill, Krugman pointed out. By instituting a government review of both patients and treatments this waste of resources can be eliminated.
Characterizing this review as a death panel, as critics like Sarah Palin have done, is overly melodramatic. Krugman said. Denying futile treatment isnt the same as putting someone to death. I mean, everyone dies. Its merely a question of when. Logically, theres no sense expending the nations scarce resources trying to avert an event that is ultimately inevitable.

Krugman is a far better candidate for being called “Doctor Death” than Doctor Kervorkian.
The Democrat Party is nothing more than a Death Cult.
LOL “save money in the long run” that’s funny.
What would really help is to let people just write their own prescriptions. Cut out the middleman. Doctor bills are a huge part of health care costs. This would reduce them greatly.
Thanks John.
We might laugh at the satire...except that I happen to believe that this is pretty much along the lines of what Obama and his henchmen are thinking.
Right now, a huge proportion of the nations health spending goes to prolonging the lives of the terminally ill, Krugman pointed out. By instituting a government review of both patients and treatments this waste of resources can be eliminated.
You only think this is satire. It is, in fact, prophecy.
This is so funny.
Yes, it saves money because it kills people; less people to cover - no problemo. However, even with the people it is going to kill, the payout is going to be huge; no way is it ever going to work - the biggest pyramid scheme ever. Young people paying into a system that supports, essentially, old and sick people. See how long the narcissists coming along today will go for this.
I guess if we diddn’t laugh, we would start cryiing.
Its all getting very revival-ish. Krugman hyping the crowd for their god and Krugman is his prophet....he even has the holy Nobel to prove it. Paul contradicts himself by the day with op-eds 180 degrees opposite of what he opined just a few short years ago.
Die fast. Save money.
It’s gotten to the point that satire is so real it’s no longer satire.
What they need to do is organize this at the community level. (Ought to be right up their alley) Sort of like a Neighborhood Watch Program. So when your crotchety old neighbor comes down with colon cancer you can tell him "Ya know, you've been a pain in MY a$$ for years..."
:-))
“Right now, a huge proportion of the nations health spending goes to prolonging the lives of the terminally ill, Krugman pointed out.”
Right, sure, and that’s your opinion, Paul, clear up until the time you, or a member of your family, gets cancer. Your whole perspective will change, Paul, because your feelings will be involved.
You are mistaking Paul for a real live person. He is really a Voodoo doll. But not like a regular Voodoo doll. When you stick a pin in him, it makes YOU smile...
Increasing demand for medical care while reducing supply is a sure formula to save money. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Actually, it’s a formula for rationinga AND shoddy healthcare. But Dems don’t understand the market or the bleeding obvious.
