In a surprising, yet reassuring turn of events, Pope Benedict XIV, the head of the Catholic Church has announced that he is willing to excommunicate any and all Catholic Priests who have been rightfully accused of pedophilia while in service to the Catholic Church.
"It is my sworn duty to uphold the tenants of the faith which rest securely on the never changing, holy scripture, which speaks succinctly, yet passionately, against sexual sin within the body of Christ." Pope Benedict wrote in a letter addressed to "Fellow Catholics, Christians, and citizens of this great planet." ...

It’s an April Fool’s article.
To: SnakeDoctor
Keep waiting. It still hasn’t happened. Probably shouldn’t hold your breath.
To: RGirard
This article is malicious bunk. Read it.
“Therefore, in this year of our Lord, 2010 Anno Domini, let it be known...”
The writer, with his “tenants” and replicate “Anno Domini” is hardly literate.
Until shown otherwise, I read “April Fool” all over it.

What is really sad about this thread is that for a fleeting moment my heart was lifted by the possibility that the Pope and church might actually do the right thing.
How could I have been so naive?

It's sad that supposed Catholics support those who rape children.
As a gentleman, I would ask you to withdraw that slander.

Based on your posting history, I'm guessing you wouldn't know "the right thing" if somebody dropped 10 tons of it on your house.

Not to worry. I still respect you a lot more than I respect the Pope.
To: GovernmentShrinker
Hmm, I should have known it sounded to good to be true.
So the Pope will continue to shelter them. Figures.

As a gentlemen, I would ask that you stand with me against child sexual abuse and demand the Vatican take responsibility and action for the egregious crimes committed by the Catholic church against tens of thousands of children put in its trust.

It's sad that supposed Catholics support those who rape children. The misbehaviour of Mahony, Sullivan, Weakland, and their ilk was and is worse than merely sad. I take second place to NOBODY in wishing to see them removed from office.
I also cannot, do not, and will not support slander, witch hunts, and falsehoods from the militant faggots who run the New York Times. Other folks seem quite comfortable in such company. I wonder: why?

My posting history reflects integrity and advocacy for abused victims unlike the Catholic church which would rather not talk about it because it is an “icky” subject.

A good start, now why won't you support the removal of those who left them in office, i.e. Ratzinger?

It's really sad how many people are utterly blind to the fact that the Church is already doing the right thing.
The leftists and queers in the media wish to hide the truth, and many folks seem quite comfortable believing leftists and queers.

Let me get this straight, you want justice for sexually abused children?
You must be anti-Catholic and part of the great conspiracy to take down the church! /SAR

Thank you for the head’s up, I really appreciate it. I think that child rapists should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Sure it does.
Actually, it reflects the wickedness and hypocrisy of someone who seeks first to destroy fellow Christians and the foolishness of one who will not admit his error when it is shown to him as clear as day.
It is Holy Week. I encourage you to repent and stop spreading lies and slander.

The Catholic church is as silent and un-actioned as Islam was the minutes, hours and days after 9/11.
This is the Vatican's 9/11 and yet it refuses to acknowledge the big smoking hole in the ground that was once its credibility.
