Had Sarah Palin not been on the national scene right now, things would be SO MUCH WORSE! Obamacare and Cap & Tax would have passed months ago without her contributions to public discourse. (Death Panels anyone? Or her Washington Post editorial on Climategate?)
Obamacare not only would have passed sooner, but it would have come without any of the "compromises."
Beginning with her endorsement of Doug Hoffman in the NY-23, we take for granted how much her name lends legitimacy to the Tea Party movement and to ALL the *contested* primaries going on in the country, INCLUDING the one in Arizona!
The fact is: J.D. Hayworth himself has benefitted from the momentum largely initiated by Sarah Palin.
Palin was just who we needed at just the right time. By picking her and introducing her to the world stage, John McCain has done more for this country and more for conservatism than any other Republican serving in office right now--and that includes Bachmann, Ryan, Pence, and Demint, etc...
PALIN has outfought them all on our behalf and nobody has communicated our message as effectively to the public as she has. She has truly made a difference not just politically, but culturally as well. I think we take for granted how crucial her decision to resign and bring the fight to the national media has been. She acts as our representative on the Left's primary turf.
In many ways, Obama's presidency has been a blessing in disguise both for this country and for conservatism as a whole. The times we're in allow for a true patriot like Palin to shine even more. Quite frankly, the media fanaticism surrounding Palin has been a blessing in disguise too. People pay attention to everything she says!
Other thoughts:
I certainly am glad Mr. Mitt Flip Flop Romneycare is not our president and neither is Governor Huckabee. And guess what? I'm glad that next time, should Palin run, she's running for the #1 spot and not #2.
We can speculate all we want about the inner politics of the McCain/Palin campaign, but the fact is, without John McCain's brave and BOLD decision to pick her as his runningmate, we would have no Sarahcuda fighting the Communists in power today!
Which leads to my final point:
I find it ridiculous that we have a bonafide communist serving in the White House and some see it more fit to sneer and jeer at Vietnam War Veteran. Even if veterans such as John McCain are not entitled to our votes, they are certainly entitled to our thanks, our salute, and our RESPECT. He has literally put his life on the line in the service of this country and has the scars to prove it. Can't say that about most of his fellow Republicans serving in Congress, even the most "conservative" ones.
At a time when we are fighting terrorists and the security of our country is at the brink, at a time when our nation's leaders want to fund abortion mills, why are we villainizing one of the most crucial defenders of our military to have served in office and someone with a 100% Pro-Life record?! Mind boggling. No, his record is not perfect, but let's give him credit where it's due.
So again, I am not saying people have to like or vote for McCain--I don't know that I would either, (though I personally am not too impressed with J.D. Hayworth but that's just me.) But, we can at least appreciate his primary political contribution: introducing the world to Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, "For such a time as this."
But if she wore an Arlen Specter mask at the rallys she might do some good.. and get JD.. elected..
McCain dislikes conservatives and only seeks to use them. If he is re-elected, with Sarah’s help, he will waste no time helping the Thug-in-Chief get Amnesty to Illegals passed. Sarah is now the enabler.
Wrong.
This McCain issue will fade into the background, no matter what happens.
The antiPalin psychopaths will need to find another argument, this one is on its way out.
Sarah’s a free agent and can do whatever she wants to at this point. I’d rather believe that she’s campaigning for McCain because she truly admires the man and agrees with his stances. That is the honorable explanation. If that is the case, it’s good that we are learning more about her before we invest too much of ourselves in her stock.
On the other hand, if the reason she is campaigning for the lying SOB is because she is only doing it out of some perceived “loyalty” and “indebtedness” to him, and that she doesn’t really agree with his stances - well then - I think that is dispicable and paints her as the kind of “professional politician” that I tend to despise.
As far as thanking Sarah for “lending us her name” in the Tea Party movement - the movement is independent of any one leader. In fact, the only time I have seen Sarah at a Tea Party event was at that convention in Tennessee. I didn’t see her in DC when the healthcare thing was going down. I’ve seen Michele Bachmann at several of them - on the front line of the battle, fighting the good fight, but not so much Sarah.
We had better get both of our feet planted firmly in the ground, because we’ve got a huge fight ahead of us & we can’t afford to be placing our faith in people that won’t deliver when it comes to crunch time.
Another Freeper, JohnHuang2 ( :^) ) also writes extraordinary essays and political commentary that just make ya want more and more.
You two should collaborate sometime..my guess..you both could write for Sarah when she takes the White House!!
Right, but you have to recognize what is useful and what isnt.
Palin is still very useful to the conservative agenda. This McCain thing will wither away and be gone while Palin continues her fight for conservatism.
Party support????? What about Scott Brown. He won on his smarts. Half the time I think the party (Rep) is the problem.
Exactly. John McCain picked Sarah Palin for one reason and one reason only. Political expediency! Without her, Obama would have trounced with a major landslide. And for you republicans who do not understand this go look at the history of what John McCain has done to the republican party with his backstabbing antics!
McCain hates conservatives! McCain, Snowe, Collins, and Graham all rinos need to go, or sit down and STFU!
There is no argument against Palin for supporting McCain, because there is no way to make the claim that if Palin hadnt done this transient little favor for McCain, the attacks against her wouldnt have been a lot worse. (Not to mention the blow to her conscience for betraying her promise.)
The argument falls flat.
“though I personally am not too impressed with J.D. Hayworth”
I find myself agreeing to some extent, although it’s based only on what I’ve seen in a handful of cable network interviews of Hayworth.
Yeah but the point is she ACCEPTED his offer to run with him in 2008, she could have said no, she did not have a gun put to her head, she said it was an honor to run with him, so was she a RINO then, where was the outrage then when she ran with him, is there really any difference between then and now..so I don’t get this phony outrage stuff(Not from you, just saying in general) like “How dare she support him” and “I am shocked shocked that she would do it” please, she ran with him in 2008, she said in her book she would always support him, what shock, anyone that read her book knew she would support him because she always said she would
If he is re-elected, he will help bring our country down totally and she should by now be able to see him for what he is.
I would rather write her off, sad as it is, and concentrate on getting this 0bamacare atrocity brought down and support real conservatives like Coburn, Ryan, Imhofe, Pence, DeMint, Bachmann, Chuck Devore (to unseat Boxer), Myrick, Steve King, Darrell Issa, JD Haworth, good grief there are lots of them!! We are not so bad off! Oh and Paul Braun of GA, too!
Haven’t you asserted that God is directly intervening in Sarah Palin’s life right now and that His hand is guiding her?
>> This McCain thing will wither away
I agree.
Thanks for the post & the ping.
Okay, John. Thank you.
Now go away forever.
There's an old saying that goes something like "You dance with the one which brought ya."
Hardly anyone on FR knew who Sarah Palin was before John McCain picked her to run as V.P. and the fact is we do owe him a thank-you for picking her. She's done more to unify the Conservative base across the Republican and Democrat parties than anyone else, and brought the Independents into the Tea Party movement. NO doubt that there wouldn't be as many people "awake" today without her.
Congress declared war on the American People last week by seizing control of our Health Care system. Sarah's leading us into battle. Some just need to cut her some slack. She knows exactly what she's doing.
You mean Ryan who endorsed McCain for president?
DeMint who endorsed Gramnesty?
Bachmann who endorsed McCain?
Hayworth who endorsed McCain?
I believe Inhofe and Pence also endorsed McCain.
Write off Palin and you will be forced to write off many, if not all, on your list.
