Last week, someone at work asked me about the Obamacare thing. I explained to him that it's a massive tax increase of at least $12,000 per family. He looked like I'd hit him in the gut.
He told someone else, and the reaction was about the same.
We need to put this thing into quick words for everyone to understand. There's still a lot of people who have no clue about it all. Something like what I's used:
"Can you afford a thousand bucks a month to pay for this?"
Short, sweet, factual, and to the point.
“I’ve heard a lot of doctors are planning to quit because of the rules and regulations in this bill. I bet it’s going to take forever to get an appointment now.”
I’m thinking of responding by telling them that anyone in favor of it doesn’t deserve the freedom and liberty the Constitution provided for them.
I know of several businesses that are going to have to close because they can’t afford to have health care on their employees.
It is a MASSIVE powergrab from the states, just as Roe v. Wade was.
“I hope my doctor isn’t one of the ones who quits.”
You assume that your audience knows what liberty is. They don’t.
It is a MASSIVE powergrab from the states, just as Roe v. Wade was.
does yer pocket calculator even go to 1,000,000,000,000 ???
“I heard about a woman who moved into a new house and Medicare used that as an excuse to re-evaluate (and then cancel) her coverage — and she was in the middle of cancer treatments! Boy, it’s like the DMV is running health care now. They don’t care if they screw you over! They’ve got 300 million other customers, so why should they care about you?”
Unhappily, not enough people are concerned with the actual concept of individual liberty, so anything else that impacts their paycheck will have to do.
How about: “Let’s talk about it in FOUR years, when the program begins.”
“You mean I don’t get my free health care now?”
“No, dumbass. And be sure to purchase a health care policy by 2014 so that you don’t get fined or go to jail.”
“You mean I won’t get free health care ever?”
“No, dumbass.”
17,000 new IRS thugs.
Everyone complains about crooked politicians yet they were just given control of our health.
The IRS will be the new health care insurance enforcers. They will be hiring 15,000+ new IRS agents.
Luke 23:34
“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
I believe it was another FReeper who came up with this, but I’m about to post this on my Facebook page and see what happens to my useful idiot liberal friends.
There are now two types of people in the world: those who want to be coddled and those that want to be left alone. Which one are you?
I’ll use it if I/you/we/they can back up that thousand dollar a month figure .... I hate it when the Lib media shakes the magic eight-ball and come up with a number .....
I was about to reply with something similar. About half of the guys there voted for Obama, and are getting quite embarassed about it now.
They aren’t into politics at all.
So, I put it in words that they COULD understand.
And, they did.
Another answer to the “I don’t get it now” question is to say, “No, only the tax increases start now. The coverage may never start as they are still changing it.”
