THE ISSUE: Whether presidential candidates today have character, as their predecessors did. In looking for a president with the character of Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan, Ralph Peters asks, "Will we ever again have a president who didn't go to an Ivy League school, who knows what it's like to struggle -- as so many Americans struggle every day -- and who's tasted defeat, but got back in the ring with his dukes up?" ("Why Our 'Post-Modern Presidents' Fail,").
The answer is "yes." Her name is Sarah Palin. etc...

No, I know that. Just want to set the record straight.
Which jobs? Why do you not answer me? You said 3 factmart. What are they?
Facts m’kay?
Reagan wasn’t running for POTUS at 45. We have a young one now. I would not use that argument.
Point taken. But it’s very much like a public office. And during Reagan’s time there it was quite eventful.

Or..
As I said the other night.
People who buy into the mainstream media line that “Palin is stupid”. And you seem to be one of them.
I don't think she's stupid at all.
I doubt that..
But lets cut through the bull here.
What is your problem with Sarah Palin ?
She would need seventy million votes at a minimum to win the WH in 2012. At least half of those votes will have to come from the moderate and independent blocs. Many will have to be Americans who voted for obama.
Please explain in as much detail as you can exactly how Sarah (who is perceived as the darling of the right, has very limited experience and who, like it or not, quit halfway through her first term) is going to win over ten to twenty million of these voters.
You aren’t too bright are you? You could have checked my posting history and you could have answered your own question.
So figure it out for yourself. I have no hate for Palin, I like her. Is she going to be the best candidate? She is a whole lot better than Flip, but I am not yet ready to sell my vote almost 3 years before the next election. I will watch who enters and what they do and say.
Sound fair? Palin isn’t the problem, her overly sold supporters are. They don’t want her to win, they work to alienate people with an unreal praise that keeps itself fed by demonizing everyone who isn’t really ready to campaign yet and have doubts. It by no means is a final statement that all those people won’t vote for her.
You folks even pretend that she has no downside at all. She does. And so will the others. How many We Love Mitt threads do you see? If you see one, they get excoriated.
It is the nature of the beast. Politics. Anyone who enters knows they have a hell of a job ahead.
Look around. Look at the economy. Look at unemployment. Look at what they are doing in Washington D.C. right now. Look at the amount of spending and consider the inflationary doom.
Thats how..
You are using conventional wisdom. This is not 1988 and these are not normal times.
Then why do you come onto to these threads and trash Palin supporters who agree with you on probably 90% of what you believe ?
7th or 4th? What was bigger? US, Germany, France. I think back then, California was still bigger than China. The UK is the only one I'm not sure of. It may have been bigger than California, but not by much.
I’m not sure, either ;-)
Sorry but simply listing the problems we face does not equate with explaining how Palin will get all those middle, middle/right, middle/left and independent votes. You can try again though.
What's discouraging is, despite wherever California was then, it's well below that level today. China, India, Mexico, Russia, Brazil and Italy have all surpassed CA, although California's own population growth has exceeded or met the growth in those other countries, save for China and India. California has all but lost it's industrial base, and that hurts its economic fortune more than anything.
Incidentally, I forgot Japan. Japan's economy was bigger than California back in Reagan's day.
If the economy is bad....
ANY warm body will be able to beat Obama. Palin has the the best potential to do do.
She has charisma. And she still has more executive experiance than our current President.
to do so..
I just get sick of the fact that you folks go on threads about people like Michelle Bachmann and because people may say nice things about her, start calling her worthless boob and flaming everyone you perceive to be a co contender in the presidential race.
Sad part, it really isn’t Palin doing it. Your minds are closed 3 years before the next election and Palin hasn’t even declared herself a candidate yet.
If you want an all Pro Palin site, start one.
She will be a top contender if she enters, it will be up to her at that time to win my vote in the primary.
Who would you pick Ol’ Wise One who knows more than most?
Ditto!
That’s exactly what YOU are doing!
