Tribe in Zimbabwe Proven to be Descendants of Biblical Hebrews

The Lemba tribes in Zimbabwe have oral tradition that their ancestors were "Jews" who left Judea about 2,500 years ago and settled in a place called Senna, later migrating into East Africa. After 2,500 years of exile, British DNA tests have proven that the Lemba traces its linage to the Kohanim (Priests) of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem,

After entering Africa, the tribe is said to have split off into two groups, with one staying in Ethiopia, and the other traveling farther south, along the east coast. Some settled in Mozambique, and eventually migrated to South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Most Lembas are are either Christian or Muslim in faith but they follow many Jewish customs. Marriage to other Lembas is preferred, with marriage to non-Lembas being discouraged. The restrictions on intermarriage with non-Lemba make it particularly difficult for a male non-Lemba to become a member. A woman who marries a Lemba male must learn the Lemba religion, dietary rules and other customs. She may not bring any cooking equipment from her previous home, as it may have been tainted by inappropriate use (not-Kosher). Initially, she may have to shave her head, (which is a requirement in the Torah for soldiers to marry captured women) Her children must also be brought up as Lembas. Lemba men who marry non-Lemba women are expelled from the community, if the women refuse to live according to Lemba traditions.

Doesn't surprise me. I don't think they are the first, or the last to be found.

Gen. 49: 22 Joseph is . . . a fruitful bough by a well, whose branches run over the wall.

Deut. 28: 64 Lord shall scatter thee among all people.
1 Kgs. 22: 17 I saw all Israel scattered . . . as sheep.
2 Kgs. 15: 29 carried them captive to Assyria.
2 Kgs. 17: 6 (2 Ne. 18: 4) king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away.
2 Kgs. 25: 7 Zedekiah . . . and carried him to Babylon.
Jer. 5: 19 shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
Jer. 14: 18 go about into a land that they know not.
Jer. 16: 13 will I cast you out of this land.
Jer. 17: 4 cause thee to serve thine enemies.
Jer. 29: 18 removed to all the kingdoms of the earth.

Amos 9: 9 sift the house of Israel among all nations.
Matt. 15: 24 not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Matt. 24: 16 let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains.

It seems they will accept Africans as Jews more easily than those who are non-Africans. One example are a group of Indians (from India) who claim to be from the tribe of Manashe.

Here I thought that the Boers were the only folks from the “chosen” people on the African continent.

TRUE ISRAEL

God provided Scriptural clues for Identifying Israel of old. There is no debate that ancient Israel fulfilled most of these marks and was identified by them. But even more exciting is the fact that these very same features help us to identify Israel today! Listed below are fifteen national, geographical and spiritual aspects out of hundreds of Scriptural clues that positively identify Israel. Ask yourself, what modern-day people do they identify?

5 NATIONAL ASPECTS
- Israel was to become a great and mighty nation.(Genesis 12:1-3)
- Israel was to become a vast multitude of people.(Genesis 22:17)
- Israel was to form a multitude of nations.(Genesis 17:4-6)
- Israel was to rule over other nations.(Deuteronomy 15;6)
- Israel was to be a blessing to all nations.(Genesis 22:18)

5 GEOGRAPHICAL ASPECTS
- Israel was to have a new home, other than Canaan Land.(2 Samuel 7:10)
- Israel’s new land was to be inhabited by people gathered from many nations. (Ezekiel 38:8)
- Israel was to have a land of unwalled villages, without walls, bars or gates. (Ezekiel 38:11)
- Israel was to have a land of great agricultural wealth.(Deuteronomy 28:8-11)
- Israel’s land was described as being the “camp of the saints.” (Revelations 20:7-9)

5 SPIRITUAL ASPECTS
- Israel was to have a new religion and be saved by YHWH (the LORD).(Jeremiah 31:7,31-37).
- Israel was to carry the gospel to all the world. (Isaiah 49:3-6)
- Israel was to be the only nation given God’s Law. (Psalm 147:19-20)
- Israel was to be blind for the most part to her identity. (Isaiah 42:16-19)
- Israel was to be called by a new name. (Isaiah 62:1,2)

If this is true, I guess that means no immigration to Israel.

Excellent references!

And there are indeed many great promises of the Lord regarding this land of America, and it’s people associated with the dispersion and gathering of Israel.

But as I’m a Mormon, you’ll probably not agree with me. ;-) I don’t want to have the usual suspects hijack this thread, so I’ll bow out. Thanks for the references.

I wouldn't bother trying to put over some cult group teachings on a forum that has a lot of Christians on it and know better than to promote the cult idea of British Israelism or ideas that go along similar lines of thinking... LOL ...

It's this type of stuff that contributes to groups like Christian Identity and other such groups that spout off garbage like that and end up using it to discredit the current-day Israel and the Jews living over there and to persecute the Jews, one way or the other...

Sorry this "won't fly" here..., as true Christians know this has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus, the Messiah of Israel and true Christianity. It's nothing but teachings from Satan.

Absolute garbage, from any perspective of true Christianity... and if you think that Mormonism has some claim on the "authentic history" of the Americas... that's a "laugh a minute"... LOL...

Those are excellent references which those who are committed to antisemitism like to store up and use whenever they want to try and fool a group of people into believing that the current-day Jews are "not the real Jews" ...

You are welcome to your opinion. You are also well known on the anti mormon threads, this is what I meant by hijacking.

And no, the references are not just about Jews (Judah) but also all the other 11 tribes whom the Lord has scattered across the Globe. The promises of Abraham and his seed filling every nation will be fulfilled, regardless of what I believe, or what you believe.

Have a good day.

I didn't know that I was "well known" on anti mormon threads... LOL...

I say that since I haven't posted in Mormon threads in a very long time (and I'm not talking about posting against "Romney-bots" on political threads, which I do all the time... :-) ...).

Please tell me, how come I'm that "well-known" over there?

Of course, in my over ten years here, I know I've posted several times on religious threads which deal with Mormons and have pointed out their cult doctrines which are anti-Christian. I say that because I would always point out any anti-Christian stuff that pops up on Free Republic, if I see it.

But, then again, I don't "say" that -- when Mormons post their Mormon threads, that they are posting "anti-Christian threads" either... LOL ... (even if they are anti-Christian...).

I just say that they are the cult group that they are, in terms of Christianity.

Take it somewhere else, I won’t participate in the baiting.

If you have something constructive to say about the OP, or the scattering/gathering of Israel, without diverging to the usual path of thread destruction, I will offer input. Other than that, I won’t be communicating with you.
