Back in the 1970s before people were screaming about global warming, scientists were warning us that the next ice age may be just around the corner. The big freeze scare was eventually pushed aside by the great man-made global warming hoax. Now a new study has been released that global warming may be just the Earth's warning that a new Ice Age is near.
In the Earth's history thus far, there have been periods where glaciers covered much of Europe, each lasting about 100,000 years. These are separated by warmer interglacial periods lasting around 10,000 years. We are currently at the end of an interglacial era called the Holocene.
Researchers took a look at what happened to the climate just before the last major glacier period, around 115,000 years ago and they found that there was a period of extreme climate fluctuations. They suggest that the period of global warming that plateaued fifteen years ago may just be one of those pre-glacier heat waves.

As Father Guido Sarducci once said (sorta), “Then it’ll get warmer or colder, depending on the weather.”
On the other hand we are 5,000 years OVERDUE for the next period of glaciation. There are a number of explanations for that ~ none of them all that firm.
The AGW folks have a difficult time dealing with glacial cycles since they are so regular ANY irregularity should be cause for concern.
Ping.
So, the climate is like John Kerry...

Dang I just missed. I had $1 on March 9th being the date they would switch back to Global Cooling. Just missed the Jackpot!

Glaciers were in what is now the U.S., what 12k years ago?
The area encompassed by the State of Indiana has several series of glacial terminal moraines. These are the piles of debris left at the edge of a retreating glacier.
The Indiana Moraines reflect SEVERAL of the ancient glaciations and extend from about Indianapolis all the way to Louisville.
There's also a highlands area in the middle that tends to confound everyone's thoughts about the glaciers.
One of the things we don't know much about yet are the various interstadials that occur in the midst of a glaciation. These are warming periods that last less than 10,000 years and are not as widespread as the interglacials that last at least 10,000 years.
It is possible that due to a slight uptick in the GW process about 3,000 BC we now have an interglacial that's latched onto an early interstadial. Because of that it is entirely possible the next glaciation could start tomorrow ~ which is just 1 hour and 42 minutes away.
BRING IT!
New law of physics, derived by the Democrats:
Given that
W = warm, and C = cold:
Warm is essentially the same as Cold
W/C = 1 or
W = C

One thing is that most people think the transitions between these geological times must also take geological time. The reality may be that the “pieces” get set in place for a while, then a trigger event causes a cascade and a massive shift occurs virtually instantly.
IOW, a couple good volcanos light off, and we’ll miss a summer. Then the next one. And the next. And then NYC is burried under 100 feet of ice.
Another thing is that human CO2 emissions aren’t even a rounding error compared to the forces involved...
