I myself would probably vote for Mitt. Not my dream candidate, but at least sane and competent. What kind of person takes 50 plus years to learn that abortion is the killing of an innocent child?
And that's assuming that he isn't lying.

The original post said this:
“Former Governor Sarah Palin real reason for quitting as governor was she had done everything she promised to do.”
My argument has been that this defense will be chewed up and spit out. Your post is closer to the truth. I wish your post did not start with ‘left wing talking points’. This attack, issued to anyone who would dare criticize Palin, is starting to wear thin. I have stated who I would like to be president, and Jim DeMint would do wonders for our country. Do I think he has a chance? Not much.

Since you keep asking the quesion over and over in what is getting to be an obsessive-compulsive rant, I will tell you that I don’t think anyone is capable of beating her because the same mentality that elected Obama will sweep another ill prepared candidate into the nomination. I hope you will be able to sleep better tonight knowing that you got the answer you wanted.
To: r9etb
No ... if you disagree with them you're almost always relegated to being a "Mittbot," as I see that you've now been so-relegated -- on the basis of your support for DeMint, for some reason. These Palin sycophants are a singularly silly and predictable crowd. Dude, there is mindless name calling on all sides. You should really quit your crying about one side being worse that the other side, post after post and thread after thread. It doesn't makes you look very objective.

No need to gasp. Just an observation. Some big tent that GOP! No wonder the lame-stream media so successfully paints them with a big broad brush.

To all of you people who keep insisting that Palin doesn't have a snowball's chance of being the GOP nominee or elected President:
ANYTHING can happen between now and 2012, although I'd say we're going to know who the GOP candidates will be in 12-18 months. For the time being, let's see where things stand NOW and what may happen between now and then.
Sarah Palin ELECTRIFIED GOP voters in 2008 after being tabbed as McCain's VP nominee. She pushed McCain past Obama in the polls until the financial catasrophe happened and McCain misplayed it like shortstop with a bad hop.
Palin brings out people by the thousands where ever she goes whether it's a book signing or a NASCAR appearance. She is a political "rock star". No other potential GOP candidate has such appeal. There is no argument. To debate this point is ludicrous and makes any other part of your argument moot and meaningless. You might as well be arguing how fast one can fly around the world with someone who believes the earth is flat.
In the most recent poll taken of potentil GOP nominees that included top-tier potential candidates, as well as some dark horses (Scott Brown, Jeb Bush, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, David Petraeus, Tim Pawlenty, and Mitt Romney), Palin WON with 22.2%. Romney got 19.4%. Newt Gingrich got 12%, followed by Mike Huckabee at 11%.
"It suggests to me that reports of her political death are exaggerated," political strategist and Democratic pollster Douglas Schoen said. "In American political life, politicians have not only second and third lives, they have nine lives. And Sarah Palin is on her third or fourth life."
Does this poll means Sarah is a "lock". No, again, a lot can happen in the coming months; however, to dismiss the current front-runner who has enormous popularity is beyond ludicrous. It's stick-your-head-in-the-sand-with-your hands over-eyes-and-feet-over-your-ears blind stupidity and bitterness. Your "hate Palin" skirts are showing. You are incapable of offering and unbiased assesment of the situation due to your personal dislike of Palin.
Looking to the future, there is nothing to give you hope that Palin will fade. She is being VERY active, spending a LOT of time in the lower 48, making Tea Party, GOP, and public appearances, such as the aforementioned NASCAR showing. She is not going away to some igloo in Alaska. She is going to be on the campaign trail through this fall helping to get many conservatives elected. She will give instant name recognition to some candidates who might not otherwise get it. She will be a big part of the conservative wave this fall. It will only help her with those politicians and the public.
That will be a natural lead-in for her IF she decides to run. Most of America seems to have had it with career politicians. "Throw the bums out" seems to be a bigger theme now than ever, although we hear it to some degree with every election. If we see many new and fresh faces in DC after this fall's election, the natural progression will be to see a new, fresh face for President. Someone who is a true, average American that average Americans can relate to.
When you think of the likely GOP candidates, none of them fit that bill better than Sarah Palin. In other words, the climate appears that it will be IDEAL for a candidate like her. She's been through 1 Presidential campaign wringer and she's beaten sitting governors of her party, so it's not like she will be overwhelmed IF she decides to run.
Based upon all of these factors, there is no reason to believe that she won't be a VERY formidable GOP candidate, if not the favorite, IF she decides to run. Again, to suggest that she "doesn't have a chance" when she's already in the driver's seat and is staying in the political front and center, is brain-dead deaf, dumb, and blind.

I like Sarah, but I agree with you.
Unfortunately many of her supporters seem to be almost as blind as the average Obama supporter.

It is difficult to get the point across that it is not a personal animus towards Palin, it is simply that based on what I have seen from her, I dont think she exhibits a statesman-like aura that say, a Ronald Reagan had.
These attempts to brand me or you or anyone who doesnt jump on board the Palin bandwagon as somehow a lib, Mittbot, etc speaks to how thin skinned some of these supporters are. No one is in here calling her names. I just feel differently; whats next, banning me from FR?

If you think Reagan was pro life at age 50, document it.

Im getting tears from laughing so hard!Name one Republican that can beat her in the primaries? I said "serious run for the money." I didn't say either of the Dakota Governors could beat her.
Both are legitimate threats though as they have years of executive experience and Governed as center-right conservatives.

The hidden truth is that a bunch of frumpy middle aged women wish they were Sarah Palin and a bunch of dumpy middle aged men wish they could date her.The guilty dawg always barks.
Stupid comment.
I haven't endorsed Sarah, and I'll take on your "dumpy", couch shaped a$$ in a marathon, anytime.
To: Matt Hatter
I am not even going to respond to the bell ringer. Say it to my face next time chump.
To: TexasCajun
Tell me where I ever wrote that I hate or even dislike Palin and I'll leave here for good. Use my own words verbatim.
My position is about the fact that I believe her to be A. unqualified and B. unelectable.
btw...I have never listened to savage, not even once...sorry.

If she looked like Sen. Barbara Mikulski with the Sarah Palin rhetoric, no one would pay any attention.

As long as I can drive my pickup. I had open heart surgery a few years back.
Yea, the guilty dawg comment was stupid. My apologies.
I still think a lot of Palin’s popularity is a skin deep thing that has to do with her looks, charisma, charm...and am not arguing that she won’t win the nomination. My point is that those things do not make a leader. (Obama comes to mind...but I honestly think she beats him on all three of the things I listed.)

Politicians "quit" one job for another job all the time. Obama "quit" his job as Senator to become President.

That's your argument? Pretty weak.
Politicians get elected to higher office and move on to that higher position. Sarah quit to do what? What job did she go to? To what higher office was she elected? As far as I can tell she quit to write a book. Wait, she did get that Fox gig too.

Reagan on Abortion.
Reagan's political record as governor of CA includes signing into law a permissive abortion law, in 1967. He reportedly regretted the act later, and I doubt that he was "pro-abortion" even in signing it. Nevertheless...
