Since the beginning of 2010 there have been umpteen articles or polls regarding questioning the 'qualifications' of Sarah Palin for President of the United States. Here is a statement by Matthew Dowd, ex-Bush aide in the fall of 2009 that puts the topic in perspective:
"No sitting President of the United States in the 60 year history of the Gallup poll has failed to be re-elected going into the fall campaign if his job approval number was above 51% and no president with below 47% has been re-elected."
"The 2012 election will be PRIMARILY about our current president and whether voters are satisfied with the country's direction. Who the Republican candidate is, and his or her qualifications and abilities, will matter ONLY if Obama's approval rating is between 47 and 51% going into the fall of 2012."
COMMENT:
I know at FR it is extremely important to get the right GOP nominee in place to face off against Obama in 2012-I agree fully, but I would also suggest that we never take our eye off the ball regarding Obama's job approval numbers and perhaps put a much higher priority in causing them to stay in the zone of uncertainty between 47 and 51 if not lower than to nitpick away to distraction at the inadequacies or perceived weaknesses or flaws of the GOP candidates including Sarah Palin.
And I am not only talking here to Palinistas which I am one but to everyone on our side including Romneybots and Huckabee supporters who are also disgusted with Obama and his radical socialist agenda and firmly convinced he must be toppled from his throne in 2012.
For the record I am not saying that the posters at FR should abandon seeking the truth regarding the potential GOP candidates for the 2012 nomination, far from it, but I also believe we should never lose sight of the overall objective. Neither Palin, Romney nor Huckabee or any GOP dark horse is the enemy. Obama,the Far Left and the Democrats and their allies in the MSM are.
a) Resurrecting and accomplishing a bi-national deal to extract and bring to the Lower 48 a major new supply of energy (Natural and LN Gas).
b) The sole Republican being touted as a presidential candidate (this exempts Rep. Inhofe) who has had the cojones to directly challenge the AGW zombies and label their "settled science" as what it is, Snake Oil.
c) Went after Alaska's Republican version of Chicago City Hall, resulting in the clean up of long standing corruption in her own party and State government.
d) Under the personal and financial pressure of a couple dozen groundless law suits by leftists acting as surrogates for the White House, made a tactical retreat from the governor's office, leaving it in the hands of a competent and trusted replacement. If you don't know that leadership can include knowing when to switch tactics and withdraw from a battle you'll win but at too high a cost, then you need to look up a certain fellow named Sun Tzu. They have at West Point.
There are more, including the leadership of walking the walk on Life under a very difficult set of circumstances and timing vis a vis her personal life and political career.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but a lot of us quite like and admire Mrs. Palin's grit and leadership. The MSM and doubters such as yourself may well prevent her from gaining the nomination or being elected, but please don't expect us to roll over and cry uncle without an argument.
Okay then, I’ll try. The endless assault on Gov. Palin by leftwing operatives, a hostile media and other political enemies brought the operation of the Governor’s office to a standstill. The state’s work wasn’t getting done so Palin chose to relinquish the position she had earned in the election. Giving up power is not a natural thing for a politician.
If she would have sneaked back home in defeat, I would be in agreement with those critical of her resignation but she didn’t. No, she has taken a path that keeps her right in the crosshairs of those set on destroying her all the while taking the spotlight off Alaska. That,to me, is leadership. She is willing to take the arrows for a cause greater than herself. She is an outsider unafraid to question the established norms of everyday Washington politics. The Tea Party movement is a “thinking outside the box” movement and Sarah Palin is a natural fit.
I have no idea if Palin is running for president but we need selfless servants like her running for office. Call me a Sarah-bot if you like but she displays more courage than any of the media approved, GOP acceptable, established politicians on the scene.
Could be. But Bush was pretty much in that neighborhood in 2004. Voters have been known to give spikes of approval to Presidents at re-election time and then go on hating them as before (Truman, Nixon, Bush).
Palin's more qualified in terms of experience than Obama was when he took office. It's temperament that's the problem. As bad as Obama is, the media and enough voters were able to overlook or not see his faults to get him elected. Palin will face a lot more scrutiny if she runs. She may not be able to overcome that.

Palin gave up executive power, because she believed it was best for the people.
This brilliant, selfless and courageous move ensured fulfillment of her gubernatorial obligations to the people of Alaska by handing the reigns to a trusted conservative lieutenant governor, thereby cutting down the Democrats’ attempts to defeat her.
Contemplate what it says about Sarah Palin’s character and leadership ability that she would relinquish that much personal power for the sake of the people of her state.
Sarah Palin took on corruption in her own party and won, sending some of the corrupt politicians to jail. In her own party.
She pushed through a natural gas law, a major political accomplishment that takes a huge step toward energy independence, that nobody else was able to do for decades.
Palin cut back on the perks of her own office, and refused a salary increase.
She also cut 85% of pork barrel projects as soon as she came to office.
Let’s examine her entire political career in general, during which she has consistently refused—despite the daily temptations—to give in to corruption, and always put the interests of her people before anything else political.
This makes her a better leader and more qualified for the presidency than 99% of all the politicians who have set foot in Washington for the past two centuries.
And most of those days he just showed up to vote "present".
A lot of people are suffering from “old thinking”. That includes many here along with the Washington D.C. inside-the-beltway crowd. The Tea Party folks and Sarah Palin are in the process of turning “old thinking” on its head. We are experiencing a revolution in America right now, a revolution of ideas. My advice to those who don’t recognize that is to get out of the way.
I just have an objection to one term used in your article.
'Palinistas' comes across as a derogatory term. By attaching the Spanish suffix “ista” to the name it changes the name from English to Spanish. We don't say, 'Reaganistas,' or 'comunistas,' or 'facistas,' do we? It evokes words like 'Sandinistas,' the leftists in Nicaragua.
It should say 'Palin supporters' or 'Palin followers' or 'Palinists', but 'Palinistas' would be a better fit if she was a political figure in in Spain, South America, or Central America.
