Did Beck jump the shark today?
just making an observation | Feb 19, 2010 | perchant

Posted on 02/18/2010 11:19:58 PM PST by Perchant

Why did Beck say that "birthers" are as dangerous as Timothy McVeigh and that only Democrats and Republican are normal but those who aren't associating themselves with Democrats and Republicans are dangerous? Up until today, he was portraying himself as someone that thought those people were the problem.

How to Win a Fight With a Liberal is the ultimate survival guide for political arguments

My Conservative Identity:

You are an Anti-government Gunslinger, also known as a libertarian conservative. You believe in smaller government, states’ rights, gun rights, and that, as Reagan once said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”

Beck is an idiot.

He’s doing exactly what George W Bush did, when he used the term “vigilantes” to describe his own supporters.

For the very same reason: to appear “tolerant”.

Bush didn’t appear tolerant when he did that - he seemed stupid and ungrateful to his own base. Same for Beck. He appears ungrateful and clueless.

Scr*w Glenn Beck! Beck you just lost a fan today.

This is pure speculation, but at one point, several weeks ago, Beck said he didn’t know how much longer he would be able to be on the air.

We know about the Axelrod/Ailes meetup for 0bama. (threatening to pull an FCC license?? Localism??)
We know Beck has been in the hospital for something at least twice. (So has Rush)
We know he’s had to up his security at least once.
We know he’s changed focus for the year.
We know 0bama & gang have advocated abandonning talk radio, blogs and Fox.
We know there has been at least one incident regarding Beck’s family.
We know 0-bots have targeted advertising against Beck. (and Rush, etc).
We know that Beck HAS asked questions that no other pundit has asked, and the Dobbs was booted off CNN for questioning 0bama’s legitimacy.

We also hear that Beck expects a Depression—after the coming 2010 election.
We heard that the dinner this week with ‘one of the richest men in the world’ can be summed up in two words: ‘we’re (America’s) done’.
We hear Clinton’s going for a ‘brownbagger’ anti-tea party method—which will include deep research on 7-8 ‘leaders’.

Beck’s advertisers promote food insurance, identity and data security, gold, some things for older people.
Beck appears to be trying to get people to read up and know the founding principles of the country—because many do not know them/know them well.

Here are some snippets from what he said today: “The Greatest American generation....are called great....not because it was easy....Who can imagine landing on the beaches at Omaha....Things must be done. We have to make a choice. We’re either going to be restored or fundamentally transformed...Only one ends in real freedom.”

My rant on a very odd thread of last night:
“Beck is a voice crying in the wilderness. He has almost singlehandedly exposed czars like Van Jones and the ACORN fraud videos, along with other radicals in the present administration, that have people thirsting for answers. There have been security incidents for him and his family.

He’s not always right. He doesn’t say he is. I contend he’s missed the boat entirely on the present office holder’s legitimate, Constitutional claim to the Presidency.

Beck is asking questions and raising issues like few others. I think O’Reilly is trying to shield him, but it is clear that the flak he takes is because he’s dead on the money. Now, he has very powerful friends...along with powerful enemies who would gladly do him in by whatever method that takes.

The stories he covers ask questions and encourage people to read the actual, founding documents of the United States. This task is crucial, as many, many have never been taught American ideals and precepts of government. Now that we know AGW is bunk science, the thought of bunk education and peer review at the highest and most intellectual levels is obvious; this is the 60s radicals last, best chance to destroy the country. The seepage of Marxist, anti-American drivel is in children’s textbooks and university research alike, in pure, hard science as well as in soft science, side-by-side.

The Depression-era folks now dying off, we have no one to tell the stories that so many never learned. Last year, children’s books put out prior to 1985 were declared illegal ‘for safety reasons.’ The WH called historians to a ‘dinner’ and discussion early on in 2009; our history is and has been rewritten. There is no one to lead because there is previous little light on the dark places Potomac water seeps into now. So, we have to comb through documents and references previously ridiculed or excoriated to find the pearls.

Beck’s best recent thought, IMHO, is that it will be up to American citizens to right the ship of state or rebuild it as the USS America if it sinks; we are all apprentice shipbuilders now.

I support him, not because he is right on everything, but because one candle cannot burn forever, but millions of candles outshine whatever darkness comes our way in these dangerous, shadowy times. It may well be that these lights will save America all over again, and conquer the land our pioneer forebears fought and died to establish. We are the last, best hope on earth. There is no where else to run. We must lead ourselves according to the lights and rights of the Republic.”

Do we really believe in our countrymen and their abilities to toe the line when it matters or not? Sniping at Beck is critical to the Left and much to their purpose. Who ELSE is getting air time to go beyond the power of one with so much media vaccuum sucking wind on the principles of Truth, Justice and the American Way? If the Left can destroy Beck, Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, Levin, who here will step up? “Cannons to the left of them. Cannons to the right of them....”

I knew he was going to lump the people who don’t know Bam’s citizen status and want to know with demons. He’s parroting O’Stupid now. You know, the sexual harassment office pervert with the wife and kids.

he's sort of talking about the same way Robert Gibbs might talk about it.

You are right! Even his verbiage has a very Gibbish ring. Apparently someone is giving the marching orders and he is following them nearly to the word.

I don't quite trust Beck. He constantly, at least until recently, has kept saying that there is nearly no difference at all between the Dems and the Repubs. The Repubs often cave in and there are far too many RINOs but they are still worlds apart from commie Obama, or whatever his name is, and his crowd.

Obama's policies are spewed up from the darkest, hottest part of hell. Anyone with who has discernment can see that the man is possessed by demons.

The Repubs, generally, are just all too human and easily beaten down and easily compromise their principles. Hopefully this is changing

Didn’t I hear that a Saudi prince now owns a percentage of NewsCorp and all staff have been told to paint the birthers as kooks or worse?

I heard something along those lines while listening to G. Gordon Liddy's guest host, Joe Giganti (sp?), today.

Although I thought I heard him say the guy who bought a share of NewsCorp was a former Palestinian terrorist.

Beck knows this. He is trying to say, enough about the birther controversary. We are now practically in a new Presidential election season. Look to the future. Work on publicizing the traditional patriotic principles that are held dear by genuine conservative candidates.

This isn't new. Beck called the birthers un-American back in 2008 and he's mocked them since them. I don't really care for him, but I've looked through his site and was surprised what he think of the birthers. I wouldn't call them un-American, but I agree with him that they haven't accomplished anything and probably never will.

Yes. Mega-billionaire Prince Al-Waleed (Al-Walid) bin Talal of the Saudi royal family owns at least 6% of FOX Bews. He is BTW the same Saudi Prince who paid for Obama’s Law School Education at Harvard (via Black Panther Party creator Khalid Abdullah Tariq al-Mansour a.k.a. Donald Warden and Malcolm X’s attorney, Percy Sutton). The same Saudi Prince is also a cousin to Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden who BTW is also in the Saudi royal family.

If CONSERVATIVES don’t win back control of Congress in 2010, Obama’s birth-certificate isn’t going to matter because he will be free to finish killing off the Constitution completely. Get Conservatives in control, stop the insane spending, roll back/unfund some of his insane executive orders and THEN take up the birth issue.

Your points are valid, Stickman.

A lot of “birthers” have moved on.

We still believe Obama is hiding something, not sure what exactly.

But time is precious, so why waste it?

I, especially, don’t like being lumped together with Truthers.

And I do believe Beck has made himself a liability not an asset.

It's called hypoerbole, and it's a staple of talk radio.

Are birthers as dangerous as McVeigh? No. But they're kooks, and some of them might be dangerous.

He’s lumping the “birthers” in with the “truthers”.

Given that the original birther is also a truther, I don't see why that's at all unreasonable.
