Did Beck jump the shark today?
just making an observation | Feb 19, 2010 | perchant

Posted on 02/18/2010 11:19:58 PM PST by Perchant

Why did Beck say that "birthers" are as dangerous as Timothy McVeigh and that only Democrats and Republican are normal but those who aren't associating themselves with Democrats and Republicans are dangerous? Up until today, he was portraying himself as someone that thought those people were the problem.

I am a Conservative and I do not really consider myself a Republican. I am just waiting for the Republican Party to make the case for conservatism instead of RINOism.

It’s up to the GOP to do that, its not up to me to support something I don’t support. They do not have a right to my vote. They definitely haven’t deserved it.

Something happened to/with Glenn over the weekend.

I can't put my finger on it, but he has stopped saying, "Follow me", and he just sounds .... different.

he is talking about how he thinks debt is okay

I watched the whole show - he never said that. He does not believe that debt is OK. Night after night he tries to warn us of the danger to the republic of debt.

As long as conservatives take your attitude the liberals will maintain control of the Repoublican Party since they will be the ones to control the vote in the primary elections.

You can’t have a conservative candidate in the general election if you can’t vote for them in the primary!

Stay registered Independant and you will never have a voice in who governs this country.

Beck was just trying to make a point, that there is a difference between a loan that you can and will pay back, versus a loan that you can never pay back nor your kids nor your grandkids either.

He wasn't excusing profligacy at all, rather the complete opposite. As he does night after night. He irritates me on the birther attacks, but he is right on the money 98% of the time and says it better than I can.

I’m a birther, but I can still understand how a conservative candidate advertising that he/she is a birther could EASILY cost that candidate an election that otherwise would have been won.

The FACT is most of America’s voters turn off their ears and their minds whenever ANYTHING they perceive as controversial is presented to them. It’s a well understood self-preservation mechanism.

When information is perceived to be controversial, whether or not it is important, whether or not it is both true AND important, as long as the information is perceived as controversial, the grand majority of voters will shy away from voting for a candidate who endorses the controversial position.

The progressives know this. That is WHY they have ALL been VERY busy characterizing birthers as the radical crazy fringe element. It is also why the progressives have been deliberately trying to characterize ALL tea partiers as birthers and many as 9/11 truthers.

Beck knows this. He is trying to say, enough about the birther controversary. We are now practically in a new Presidential election season. Look to the future. Work on publicizing the traditional patriotic principles that are held dear by genuine conservative candidates.

if they try and start a 3rd party they are the problem!

That wasn't the direction he was going. He was drawing an equal sign between birthers and 9/11 truthers and then tied it up with Osama bin Laden, Timothy McVeigh and Bill Ayers. It was a bit convoluted but Beck was off base in my opinion...and I'm not a birther although I do understand the issues they're concerned about.

What are you talking about? He sure as hell did correct his guest who was warning about national debt by telling us how great it is that he has his own person debt that allowed him to buy his house and cars. The point should have been made that there is a difference. The bank knows Beck will make good on his payments. They know he has a good job. They can watch him work on their television sets.

I think Beck ..Hannity and others who have not taken up the Birther issue is because by the time the courts have it to deal with and wade thru Bo will have his term served...therefore seeing it as a waste of time better spent with the things we can do something about now. The same thing with the 9/11 issue...past tense and people are moving on to what they can do something about now.

Glen always dramatizes everything so I wouldn’t take it too seriously...and during this show he was indeed a bit more batty than normal. I tend to ignore the theatrics, though sometimes pretty comical..he does go off the wall from time to time though...just ignore and don’t take it personal...

It is incumbent upon him to prove he is eligible, not upon the American people to prove he is not.

I think conservatives should vote for conservatives in the primaries and then attend their local precint meetings and get involve, stand for precint chair et al. Every single one should be attending these precint meetings.

Also: It is the Republicans job to attract voters. They are NOT entitled to my vote or anyone else’s. If they cannot make a case for ideas and principles that interest me, then I am free to find a candidate that does if there are any.

I think conservatives should take over the GOP. From the ground on up. They should set up their own internal networks and connections, free of RINO & party control.

I would not give a penny to the RNC etc if I won the lotto after some of the crap they’ve pulled.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and especially Mark Levin don’t seem to have much use for Beck. IIRC, Levin accused him outright of plagiarizing from one of Levin’s books. That left only BOR, a committed non-conservative, to cozy up to. BOR wanted to reignite his own popularity with the newest star in that constellation. Thus the dynamic duo. Each is using the other for his own purposes. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I’ve watched Beck a few times, and his show was entertaining and informative in many respects, but don’t like either his remarks about Sarah Palin or his attacks on those who question or seek proof of Obama’s eligibility under the U.S. Constitution to sit in the most powerful office in our nation and in the world.

In the larger picture, more people think Beck is nuts than even know about ‘birthers.’ He should be a tad more cautious throwing stones.

No that”s part of the Liberal spin trying to pin conservatives against each other. Moreso there’s a big Bo push to do just that since they can’t knock down talk radio..well they’ll make them look bad and tweek every article to say that..ignore them.
