The great White Hunter has a question he needs answered. His father sent him these pictures and told him that the owner of the dog came home to find that a fawn was laying on his couch next to his dog.
They figure that the fawn followed the dog into the house through the doggy door and just made himself at home by getting up on the couch to take a nap with the dog.
The Great White Hunter wants to know if the story related to him by his father is true. If it is true, then he would like to know if anyone knows what the real story behind the photo is. You can go to his blog The Great White Hunter, and leave him a comment as to the actual story behind the friendly intruder.
When I was younger I had a friend who woke up and found some raccoons making themselves at home in their kitchen. They figured that the coons came through the doggy door that was left unlocked. They learned to lock it at night after that. Raccoons can be quite dangerous and it took a neighbor friend of his dad who worked for the dog pound to get them out of their house.
They left quite the mess in their once very well stocked pantry as I recall. It was quite the stir in the neighborhood back then in 1964 when my family still lived in the outskirts of Cincinnati.
I’ve got friends whose cats invite racoons in for dinner occasionally. Funniest thing in the world to watch.
I got those pictures from a friend in the Washington, DC area and the sender said it had been on the news. Supposedly somewhere in Maryland.
So the story could be true then. His father lives in Maryland. I winder if there is any video out there.
Three cheetahs spare tiny antelope's life... and play with him instead
A fawn that young stays put where the doe sets it and will not get up until it's mom comes back to get it after grazing.
That story was true. They did ‘play’ with the antelope, right up until they ate it.
It is not uncommon for dogs and deer to bond. Or, for that matter, humans and deer. It has to begin soon after the deer is born. I searched for video and did not find anything specific to this story, however I did find this. http://www.deepcreektimes.com/potmjuly.html
Yup, the dog is a Beagle and they will do stuff like that just to piss you off. Very smart dogs with a perverse sense of humor. Mine got out the other day and came home carrying some thong underwear in his mouth. I am not going to ask the neighbors and so far the dog has not offered any clues on the ownership of the undies.
I hear you. Had a cat that used to somehow pull out a screen in the cellar window and invite his pals over. The dog held the the door open for the little fawn and said “Yeah, c’mon in” They ain’t home, make yerself comfortable. Thats my water dish, help yerself’’.
